From what I've heard, the bluetooth is only available with the "convenience & connectivity" package which also gives you a usb port to plug your ipod or other mp3 in to. So using bluetooth for your ipod would be pointless really.

i hate cords, and its easier for me to go though my ipod itself and not scroll through the cars interface.

The bluetooth in the car will support any device that contains specific bluetooth profiles. The most basic being the headset or handsfree profile which most phones have to allow for phone calls.
More sophisticated phones will have the object push profile which allows the transfer of contacts to a car's bluetooth system.

I just checked out the site, gm.com/bluethooth, and the Camaro is not listed on the drop down. Used Corvette and, dog gone it, my phone isn't list. Oh well. But, my wife's "chocolate" is. She'll be happy!

I think you will find once you get the Camaro and plug your ipod in it is way easier (and safer) to use the steering wheel and radio controls to run your ipod. Trust me. I have one vehicle that allows this and two that don't. I find myself extremely distracted in the ones that don't.

your phone or any other device needs to support A2DP to stream music via bluetooth

I think you mean A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). Both end devices have to support it.

Wow, great information here.
Corathlete, do you have a good web site to help me learn about integrating phone/mp3 players into car audio systems? Thanks again everyone.

I'd much rather use the steering wheel controls than the MP3 Player itself. |

+1...you can control it without taking your hands off the steering wheel the way it's already configured. As far as I know the current bluetooth set up in Chevrolet vehicles only supports phone calls.

Does anyone know how the interface going to work, i sat and played with the mustangs interface and it is horrible, your more likely to crash trying to use that thing and it doesn't even show the artist's name.

"General Motors has announced that it will begin offering optional radios in its 2009 models that include USB ports that can be used for media devices such as the Apple iPod. The radios will let users play music and charge their media devices without the need for special car adapters. The USB ports will be identical to those found on personal computers. Currently three models have the radios but the company says at least 5 new models will be getting them for 2009. Those that currently offer them are the Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR and the Pontiac G5. The new models will be the Pontiac G6 and Solstice, the Saturn Sky and Aura, and the Chevrolet Malibu. Making the offering even more interesting is that you can navigate the libraries of your media devices using the radio's controls and electronic displays making browsing much easier than using the actual device."
