UPDATE: got it out!
Old cam removed and now I am putting everything back. My last on this thread question is, can I use "regular" bolts for cam retaining plate? Like these: http://image.superchevy.com/f/879482...iner_plate.jpg Any one has used those 10mm bolts instead of stock (recessed, torx)? I ordered the new set of proper bolts but I doubt if I will get it soon. Much appreciated. Gonna get drunk this evening ) |

dude stop using your impact on things inside your engine...should just be using a regular ratchet or electric driving ratchet not an impact....and if you call BTR i believe they sell the screws....could always just look up the pitch/length and go to fastenal & buy them

Thanks, the impact is out of scope in my question though ) it worked well for the crank bolt and that's the good thing. I am going to use it if I don;t have other options and I know it's not recommended.
My only concern was those 4 bolts holding the cam retaining plate. I ordered alreay the right parts but it's going to take a couple of days to get delivered. Calling my dealer to see if they have anything available today. I suspect the "regular" bolts will nto work as there may be some clearance issues. Will do my best to get them asap. Thought I can get some live experience on what bolts can be used for the retainer. Thanks again |

P.S. I would not use an impact if I had M6

Looks like Monday is a hard day for everyone. The person at the dealership I am callin in seems to be not available. I would guess that guy had a saturated weekend ))
Will see how it goes. Happy Monday! |

FHCS come in different angles. 60, 82,90 and 100 degrees. I would strongly advise you to use the stock bolts. And they are Torx probably because they require a higher torque.
So either wait or go to dealer and pick some up. my 2 cents |

When you're first breaking small bolts loose, I've learned you NEVER use an impact (air or mechanical) or any kind of air tool. Even big bolts, you use a breaker bar first.
You think that motor is tough? You should get an old 70's Japanese motorcycle to work on to practice breaking bolts and screws loose. I promise your bolt wrangling skills will improve. |

Sorry for my late feedback and thank you ALL for all your imputs!
Got it done and I used the OEM bolts (pretty cheap) - bought them from the dealership the other day. P.S. I used the breaker bar, worked just fine. I used the impact wrench to remove the stock crank bolt though ) Thanks again! |
