TPW 15 November 2010

Count us in. ORANGE KRATE will be a 2SS/RS IOM/IO 6m, Hurst, IO Eng Cvr, pretty much all the gingerbread sans sunroof because I need the head room. Pretty exciting time. We have bought new cars but never ordered one new from factory. Fingers crossed for all of us. My only thought of fear is the potential severe weather issues impacting shipping as it is that time of year.

As I understand it, the So Cal cars are transported via rail to San Bernardino or Riverside and then shipped by Hadley car carriers to the dealers? Can anyone confirm that? Wouldn't it be awesome to see your car coming off a train and onto a transport? Nahhhh. Too close but no cigar!!! HA HA Congrats everyone on your soon to arrive Christmas presents!

So close you can almost smell it, hey Panther??? LOL The clock keeps ticking and the wheels inch ever so closer to their rightful owner. The excitment builds and the sleepless nights will soon end. Oye!!! Makes me feel like a kid again. Nothing wrong with that. Right?

Does anyone know or maybe I should ask Becky - Do we find out our VIN # during build week or is it sometime after?

I bet Becky knows. My guess is the VIN is issued prior to the vehicle going down the assemblyline since so much has to be recorded and assigned under that number. But lets hear from the source(s).

I agree. I would think the VIN would be decided at the very beginning of the actual assembly process. I'm waiting for the VIN to get the financing underway.
Steve.

They could use a build number instead of the VIN.

But the VIN is stamped on several locations is it not? Some of the stamps being in hard to get at locations? So the VIN would have to be known before it is assembled.
