2nd gear grinding

Having my dealer look into my second gear grinding. It's doing it more often now. I told them about numerous people on here having the issue but the grinding is random so they will have to duplicate. If they can't I'm SOL.

Can anyone pinpoint the problem? Someone has had to have had this fixed by now.

Something I have noticed to duplicate the grinding everytime:

Keep transmission temperature below 75 ( let it cool off before you drive )

Rev it to 4,000 RPM and shift fast

Mine will grind everytime. But only once per time I drive it. Sometimes it will randomly grind though no matter what temperature or rpm.

I think it's my synchros

Mine does this too and eventually it will get worse. It will also begin happening in additional gears. The dealer took the car down for days and days trying to figure it out and couldn't fix it. I have no idea why they would change a catalytic converter but that's what they did. Creepy right?

They finally said come get it and well now it is worse than ever. For even more fun, now the engine is skipping and the accelerator pedal is trying to accelerate on its own like it's completely confused because the transmission is so out of whack. How frightening is that! I even told the customer service person when I opened a ticket that's too dangerous to drive! I mean seriously I'm in a school carpool! My son goes to school out of district for a special academic program. This means no school bus; parent drop off/pick up only.

But ask me if I have a loaner vehicle right now. Go ahead ask me.

I guess because I am a female I am supposed to be taking a taxi everyday and making a car payment as if I shouldn't be driving this kind of car anyway.

I hope I don't sound angry because I am more sad and disappointed than anything. The customer service is lacking horrifically and the vehicle quality is sadly subpar. I love this car more than any I have ever driven. But honest to God every Honda or Toyota manual or automatic did not have even one fraction of these kinds of nightmares. Now the people who had the Toyotas with accelerating gas pedals will surely disagree with me. But guess what, my gas pedal is starting to misbehave as well. :(

I've tracked the problem down myself. Go to YouTube and search devancsimpson and look at my 2nd gear grinding video. I've figured out its the synchronizers causing the problem. Have them replace them and possibly have them put in carbon fiber synchronizers. I told my dealership this and because I'm young they laughed at me and told me it was my transmission fluid. They changed it and then they called me and said it was my synchronizers. How nice. They're so smart figuring stuff out on their own.

Anyway. Look up my name devancsimpson in YouTube and let me know if it sounds the same.

I'd show you on here but I am on my phone.

Trans Problems

I did get a new trans still disappointed when shifting from 1st to 2nd sometimes locks up. The dealer states "it's driving habits" nothing more they can do "get another dealer opinion" I now have a case number with GM Customer Service this is my second rep. and I am getting the run around. My car is only driven on occations with less than 6000 miles!! What dealer are you working with?, please contact me forklifts@chesnet.net I am now building a case this is my 3rd transmission failure and documenting each case. I was told by a Tremec specialist (Transzilla) they are modifing all the 2012 Z transmissions recutting gears. I was also told this is a very complicated transmission and the dealers who may not have a lot of experience could make issues worst. When I got my first two repairs done the transmission was leaking both times. I am also going to contact this Jeff at GM Customer Service and see how deticated he is to this ongoing issue.

Yes, Im having the same problem with 13K miles automatic transmission.
It started vibration before 5K miles. On my first oil change I told the service manager, he drove it and said yes, the 1st to 2nd modular is not allowing to downshift properly. He said he will call GM to find out status.
He called me back and said GM is aware of the transmission problem and trying to resolve issue. 2nd oil change, I complained and he said no response from GM.
I'm disappointed at GM and frustrated every time it vibrates.
