2014 Impala Looks Like a 4 Door Camaro!!!
...or, so says the July issue of Car & Driver. The magazine did a comparison test pitting the new Impala against a half dozen other 4 door cars of similar size and cost. In the narrative on the Impala they say, "...(it) steams along quietly and smoothly and looks like a four door Camaro." Hmmm..I went back and studied the pictures of the Impala and also saw them at our dealership, and can't find anything about the aesthetics of the Impala that comes anywhere close to the appearance of a Camaro. The closest thing to a Camaro is an eyebrow looking accent line over the rear wheels, that could remotely look Camaro-ish. The Impala has great stying but nothing like the Camaro.
Interesting, both C&D and Motor Trend tested the Impala against a group of cars in it's class and both gave it a second place finish. Motor Trend chose the Kia Cadenza to the first place spot and C&D chose the Toyota Avalon as the best in that comparo. Also, interesting is C&D placed the Cadenza 5th, quite a contrast to MT. I think Motor Trend gave Chevy another slap in the face by placing the Korean made car better than a GM product. I guess it proves the old adage: "different strokes for different folks".

I can MAYBE see a little Camaro in th front grill treatment, but that is it. As for the finish, IMHO 2 second place finishes is better than the teeter tottering, while 1 of each was able to apparently find more major issues with the one that one in the other rag, the Impala held fast as an excellent car. IMHO, the new Impala is best, most rounded non specialty car in the Chevy lineup and for the first time in a VERY long time I am truly impressed with the thought, precision, and excellence that went into a GM product. THe more I see of it, the more I realize that it is a no compromise entry into it's segment.

I'd buy an Impala over a Camaro.

Yep, many family oriented non-performance minded folks would naturally pick the Impala, especially those with small children, etc.

Not family oriented at all. I just find the Impala's design much better.

Good lord heaven forbid anyone like a car other than the oh-so-high-and-mighty Camaro.
