Question Need Help

Hey, I have a 1996 Camaro RS 3.8L Manual transmission and I have been having problems with my car lately. Starting last week my car would sometimes no go into gear. I would push in the clutch and I couldn't get it into any gear. It was doing it every other day for 5 days and now I cannot get it into gear at all. Anyone have ne ideas what may be the problem???

A couple of questions: does your clutch seem like it is engaging? Do you get any gears grinding or no sound at all? Does the shifter move normally?

Answer to questions

The shifter is moving around like normal back and forth...makes noise when I try to put it in reverse. The clutch doesn't seem like its engaging it doesn't have the pressure it once had, if you know what I mean?

Well, I would say it could be one of two general problems:

1. Clutch related - stuck linkage, fluid problem if it is hydraulic, etc.
2. Transmission related - broken/damaged shift fork, damaged gear, etc.

Sounds to me like it might be more clutch related, but hard to tell over the Internet. I would take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

I had this happen to a friend's car in college. The clutch cable broke and it was nearly impossible to shift. I had to drive it to the garage for her. What a pain that was. I hope this helps. Good luck.
