I'd say when CAGS kicks in and forces you into 4th. The DIC should tell you when it's activated.

Check out this thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...highlight=Cags

Well the parameters are pretty small, guessing you accelerate right past the required speed in first gear.

Engine coolant is 170° F or higher

Speed between 15 and 20 MPH

Throttle between 0 and 35%

Ha ha, fail on my part. Just noticed you have a 2LT, as far as I know it's on V8's only. If I'm wrong I'd welcome the correction. Thanks guys.

The 1st to 4th skip shift is a V8 manual trans only thing. Nothing like that for the v6 manual trans.

You should look into getting a ScanGauge II (http://www.scangauge.com/products/ if you really want instant fuel economy information.

Most hypermiler websites will tell you that a good target range for max mpg is to upshift between 2000-2500 rpms. That number will vary with each car and is where having something like the ScanGauge will help find the right number for you.

Here's another way to see instant fuel economy on the DIC.

Tried that on my 25 mile commute this morning. Drove me absolutely freakin' insane!!!

The v6 doesn't really come alive until it's over 3000 rpms so it was like driving a gutless 4 cylinder most of the drive in to work.

But...it did bring up my average MPG for this tank (150 miles into it) from 20.3 to 21.6, so it does work. It just isn't right to do that to such a great car though....

Haha yea give it a few weeks of that combined with very light throttle as much as possible and it will improve tremendously
