MyLink Camera

I have a question about the MyLink in the 2013 Camaro's. I know with the newer Camaros the backup camera plays through the screen on the MyLink versus through the rear view mirror. If I want to install a camera on my 2013 Camaro, Do I have to use the GM back up camera or can I use any kind of aftermarket camera?

The signal on a 2013 camaro camera goes to the BCM and from there is to the MY-link, you can add a camara to any car

I understand that but there is already a camera so I don't understand what the OP is trying to do. Add another Camera? I must be missing something.

I wish there was a way to connect a extra camera to the mylink screen without cutting up the wireing and toggle between the front and the rear when parking during the times it's hard to judge how close you are to the curb . I contacted coastal e tech, the guys who make the lockpick for other GM vehicles and they don't have one yet for the Camaro . I do have one for my tahoe and its really handy. For those who are wondering, the lockpick lets you add extra audio/video inputs and front, side camaras as well as let's your passenger enter addresses or watch video while the car / truck is moving. Its all plug and play. I know what some of you are saying and i, the driver dont watch movies while driving

.I wish the Camaro mylink at least had a video input like some of the other GM mylink units out there so I could install a front camera, and as you pull in a parking spot you stop, put it in reverse with the break applied to see how close you are to scraping your front bumper, then put it back in 1st and inch up. I know im whining a little bit but Some times it's a little to tricky to back in everywhere you go. But with that said, I still love my Camaro .

Yeah, not all 2013 Camaro's have backup cameras. So I wanted to install a backup camera on my Camaro, just wasn't sure if the MyLink system was able to accept aftermarket camera or if you need to add something else to make it work.

That I did not know, I thought it was standard.

I bet you could have it but you would have to get the radio flashed at the dealer to add that feature. I'm not sure what the RPO code is but I think it's UVC . Then you would have to get the pin out in the back of the radio for the video (+) and video (-) and add a female RCA to the matching connector or if the connector is already present, add the pins to the connector. But the problem would be getting a dealer to program the radio for you. They used to do it on the 2007- 2012 Tahoes and Escalades that didn't come with factory rear cameras but I don't know if you can find a dealer to do it on a 2013 Camaro with the mylink setup

Can you add a splitter on the camera input and use it to connect a DVD player for watching movies?
Any other way to watch movies on mylink?

I was told it was standard.

I didn't see any cars without it except the 1LS which didn't have MyLink anyway

Mine is a 1SS/RS, 2013. No camera. In fact, only 1 SS I test drove had it out of the 3 or 4 2013 I tested. I do want a camera though.
