QUESTION! Please help!

I'm not sure if this is the right thread...but I'm looking at doing mods to my Camaro this winter. Mod plans are L99 to LS3 conversion, cam, new exhaust, catch can, HE upgrade, and that is where I left off...Now, the guy who is working on my car throughout this build is wanting to charge me at least 6 GRAND in LABOR.

That is CRAZY, my question is what does everyone pay for these upgrade? What do some shops on here charge? Id be looking at sending my car out of state to get the work done if it means I won't be paying more in labor than I did on my Supercharger.

Just to clarify...is it 6 grand for everything or just for labor not including parts?

Sorry to ask the question that was already answered but that just seemed ridiculously high just for labor for the work being done.

I agree, that's why I'm asking on here. I want to mod the car more (goal is to break 650rwhp) but the only good place around my area is this guy. So I'm either contemplating on going with it, going out of state to get it done (jannetty racing?) or sell it and buy a 08 Jet Stream Blue Z06.

The closest place to you I know of is livernois motorsports in Michigan. I have no exp with them but I hear good things from others on here. All I can tell you is don't settle on a shop just because they are close. Remember a good tuner can make a stage 3 cam drive very well but a bad tuner can make a stage one drive terrible. So go to a reputable shop if you can.

They said they would have to drop the motor, take the front bumper off, ect..I don't remember, but I'm pretty sure it was around 55+ hours and they charge 125 an hour.

While not knowing every detail will make it difficult to tell you exactly how out of line it is, something seems a miss. Interestingly we were just in Wausau dropping off a customer's G8 that we worked on.

Now, the KB does add a good deal of labor, just because the blower itself is relatively complex to install compared to others, so it will cost more to do a camshaft, and related install than say a Whipple or a Magnacharger would. If you would like, email a list of your goals and wants with the car, and I can put together an official estimate for you both with and without our transportation options.

My emails address is aricketts@livernoismotorsports.com
