Yes, I tried clay right away that evening. It is a bug splatter, I was cleaning the front end after an early evening ride, there were 3 orange splatters that stained the paint.

it may have already etched and stained your paint.

Probably, just seems strange that something that was on the car for less than 3 hours would cause a problem. White is worse than black when it comes down to keeping them "like new".

Any product recommendations for polish/sealer to use on paint protection products like Xpel? Have problems with insects leaving me little presents on my hood that etch the Xpel. I've tried Plexus then synthetic wax, but none really help. Any suggestions?

the key to this would be to try to remove them asap.

how many times are you waxing the film per week? per month?

the more you apply the protectant the better you will be.

also which products are you using?

Answers below...

the key to this would be to try to remove them asap.
=> Happens at work... I've removed then at work but etching still occurs. seems that hot sun baking on black car speeds up etching process.

how many times are you waxing the film per week? per month?
=> Twice per month... and if I plan on taking car in to work (where the problem occurs), I'll wax the night before. Doesn't seem to help though.

the more you apply the protectant the better you will be.
=> Agree in principle, but it seems that the products I've tried have failed to protect regardless of number of applications.

also which products are you using?
=> Tried Plexus (plastic sealer/protectant recommended by Xpel) and Meguires synthetic paste wax. Neither protects from these pests!

Any suggestions?

- yeah I understand about the work problem.
you may need to polish them out the etching.

- I would consider using something stronger like Nanoskin Hydro Express or something like 1Z einszett Glanz Wax.

Good Morning Phil, Can you point me in the right direction in regards to the products I should be using to clean and maintain my 2013 ZL1 Ashen Metallic Grey Camaro. I just picked it up. The car will be stored in my garage and will never see rain or snow. Please feel free to rundown a list of everything you would recommend from interior-exterior products. Your expertise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe G

Joe,

Congrats! Did you have a budget in mind? Did you want to pick up an orbital polisher?

Great question, I would be comfortable in the $300.00 -$400.00 dollar range. As for the orbital polisher, that's something I would consider down the road depending on how everything else was going detailing wise.
