It took 4 trips to various dealerships just to get my PDIM software updated the first time and it's not worth it to me to go through that again trying to find one that will replace the module under warranty.
I hear that, the local Chevy just closed down, the closest one to me is 25+ miles away, then there are tons 50 miles out. THe one in Folsom had no clue what I was talking about, he even asked "What is a PDIM?" I just said "Oh never mind if you don't know what it is I'd rather you not do the work." He said all upset "Well the Camaro is new we have not worked on one yet." To which I said "PDIM's are in a lot of GM vehicles for several years now, you should know what it is. Have a nice day."

I may end up going this route as well, but not for a while, I am content with using my iPhone via bluetooth, my iPod works fine through the USB so it works out, it's just when others come to plug their devices in that it does not work for crap...

No, you'll have the latest version DB/DB.

My 2011 Vert now has a new PDIM, dealer pulled one from another car on the lot and replaced mine. IPODs are working fine now. The original PDIM was a dud, charged the ipod and worked for a flash drive but could not actually link the ipod to the audio system.

So from what I've read I should be able to take my 2011 into my dealer and get the
new 20985421 PDIM unit for free with the newest DB/DB software on it?

Also, will this update make a USB flash drive remember the Random setting after the
car is turned off?

That's affirmative.

i feel I am going to have a hard time getting to get my dealer to replace my original PDIM unit that came with the 2010s, even with the new 2010 unit. They only want to do a SOFTWARE update, which mine already has. I think I will just purchase the DB/DB unit for my car and replace it myself.

Ok, this thread is everywhere and a bit hard for me to follow just jumping into it. My question is, I just bought the PDIM for my 2011 LS from GMPartsHouse. Will this be plug and play to where I can install it or will I have to go to the dealer to have them do something to it? I read a few posts and some of them mention plug and play but I'm not sure if they mean the add on is or if people replace existing PDIMs are. Thanks for the help!

EDIT *** Also there was a thread on here about the PDIM that on the firts page they had a copy of something from GM that outlined what had to be done etc. anyone have that still? I was going to print it out and bring with me incase I had to go to the dealer but I cant seem to find the thread now.

So from what I'm reading is that I can take my 2011 2LT with DA/DX (20927509) to a dealership and they will replace it with the DB/DB (20985421) under warranty? What should I say to the dealer to avoid any confusion?

If your car didn't come with a PDIM, you'll probably need to have a dealer flash your radio so that it will recognize the PDIM. If you already had a PDIM in your car, you can just install the new one (PN 20985421), and it should be plug and play. There is software in the radio head unit and the PDIM. The latest PDIM hardware will come with the latest PDIM software already installed. As long as the radio head unit is programmed to recognize a PDIM, you're good to go.

If your're having issues with your DA/DX, tell the dealer about your problem and tell him you need DB/DB (PN 20985421). Because you have a 2011, it should be covered under warranty.
