5.0 vs Camaro SS 1/4 mile race
FF to :34 seconds. Stock L99 with handheld tuner vs 5.0 on NT05R drag radials, muffler delete, cai, 3.73's manual.
Closer then you would think. Enjoy. Last edited by 08-G35s/6MT; 04-14-2013 at 03:30 AM. |

He still has timeslip with him. You need to look around before you go saying 12.7 in stock 6-speed manual 5.0 is lousy driver. |

The trap speed is lower because of his 3.73's, he has to shift into 5th before end of 1/4 mile at around 105. My friend's 3.31 auto 5.0 stock trapped 109 mph.

Watch that video again, that's an auto, listen to how smooth and early the shifts are. Not only do autos have completely different gear ratios in the box, they also have the crap ass 3.15s out back, not 3.73s. I have an auto 5.0 and I've been doing data logs lately locked in 3rd gear, it's absurdly tall. Red line is well over 110 mph in 3rd. |

with a clean launch you will be right at the end of 4th gear with the 3.73's and right around 109-110. Shifting to 5th will lose a little time but gain some mph. They do not top out at 105 in 4th try again.

He did that and it redlined and he trapped 104-105 mph. He is on these 05ish S197 GT wheels and Nitto NT05R, they are a little tall. That may be too blame. I have ridden and driven his car, it goes to 105. Period. |

Taller tires would give him more more MPH in 4th not lower it

You wouldn't think so but it's that way, when I took my 5.0 to the track the only semi clean pass I got I was at the 7000 rpms in 4th maybe 50-100' before the traps, I decided to ride out 4th instead of 5th. The 5.0's rev very quickly. My trap on that pass was 109.2
