Are the ZL1's a limited production run ? wonder what they projecting ? Need to call insurance agent and ask what the policy for a cts-v would run to get an idea ? and start playing the lottery.

That's awesome!

I've always been a big fan of destruction.

I definitely don't want compromises in regards to power for the sake of avoiding the GG tax. If they can somehow pull off both at the same time, great, but all out performance for me is the number one goal not avoiding the tax. Al's words are very encouraging to say the least, so I have faith they won't cripple power output to avoid the GG tax.
I definitely don't think they'll compromise power output, but there are other things they can tweak. Gearing, airflow, and aerodynamics to name a few. When the LLT went from CTS to Camaro, it gained several hp and 3mpg hwy.

I'm not banking on it...only optimistic, like I said, that they can overcome the odds to avoid the tax. But since the GT500 avoids it, that's an instant $1000 cost difference I'd think would be worth tackling.

I'm sure you are right, it definitely makes the most sense that way.

I'm just thinking in line with the ZL1's main competitor, the GT500. I have a hard time rationalizing how they are going to offer all these features standard and will be able to offer the vehicle around the GT500's approximate 48-49k starting price point. Even if the ZL1's starting price point was just a few thousand more, it would be a great performance bargain.
They have the advantage of being an OEM. Something like PTM could cost comparatively little given that the car is already equipped with their traction control system, because it's essentially Stabilitrac on steroids.

I'm just wondering if they will hold back a few performance features at the entry level to compete with the entry level GT500 price and offer the all out performance featured version at a higher price. I believe the GT500 with the track pack runs mid 50's, so I'm wondering if GM will implement a similar pricing and option strategy.
Typically, the Camaro team has made standard what the Mustang offers optional. I'm anticipating the same sort of story here.

Al's awesome! He can be so bluntly honest sometimes it's funny

Only limited by cost. (As in fewer people will buy it at ~50k versus the SS at 30k.)

I could not absolutely care less about an automatic tranny or any other options. If I can get a 600"ish" HP factory car with full warranty for less than 50k sticker. I am in! I just don't see it myself. I am thinking 52k "ish" base and loaded up.........who knows 57-58??? Either way if it's over 50k base I'm out on a new one. Now a used one in a year or so , if there is no Z28 then yes I may jump on one............

Any word on whether there will be actual paddle shifters? Hopefully they don't place the buttons on the back of the steering wheel. Felt like my Playstation controller while going in Sport mode.

Some people still don't get that the L99 has a better torque curve and therefore MORE HP below 4200 rpm.
