2012 2SS vs. Daddy's 2005+ Corvette
Alright, here's the deal. I've got a 2012 2SS LS3. Only mod to date is the Fastlane pipeline.
Guy here locally has been driving around giving me the evil eye. I know him personally and despise him. He's driving his Dad's C6 corvette around. Only visible mods are new chrome wheels. The car is an auto from what I remember. Not sure if its got anything under the hood or even the exact year of the car. I believe it is the 6.0 though, but not really sure. So here's the deal, I wanna be able to beat that car. What would I have to do to get my camaro to pull the doors off of a C6 corvette? Last edited by Coyotekiller; 10-24-2012 at 11:10 PM. |

You'd have to grow up and not mod your car solely for the purpose of street racing someone you have a vendetta with.

take it to the track. I finally got my Infiniti back today, I was accelerating briskly and accidentally chirped 2nd shifting out of 1st at ~3500-4000 rpm and I got a careless driving ticket. There is a 400 whp for sale on autotrader.... http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...30924489&Log=0 Hmmm, 100 more hp and no tickets for chirping tires. |

Thanks for the lectures. I'm an adult last I checked. I don't need you to tell me what I should and should not do with something I am paying MY money for. If you are not gonna provide me with advice about the car and mods, don't bother posting.
Lets simplify this for those that can't get over themselves: I want to beat a C6 corvette with my 2012 SS camaro LS3. What mods would I need to be able to beat a vette? Oh and btw, I'm not talking about street racing. Honestly, we will probably never race because he's too scared to go to the track and I'm not gonna run in the streets. I want the piece of mind to know that mine is faster. |

He has an LS2 or an LS3, depending on which year C6 it is. His horsepower should be similar to yours. His rear end may be geared differently if he has the Z51 package. (look to see if he has drilled brake rotors.) Overall your drive-trains should be similar. He has a lighter car so that's where he's going to beat you. You can spend a bunch of cash on a CAI, exhaust or other bolt ons but probably won't gain much more HP. His auto trans will also probably shift more efficiently than your M6.
I'd say just laugh at him because you have your own car and he has to drive his daddy's! |

It will take a cam and full bolt ons if it is a LS3. If it is a LS2 it will take full bolt ons. This is assuming equal skill in driving and traction.

What year c6? If its an early LS2 auto you will probably beat him or be very close. My buddies auto c6 (LS2) was only capable of a best of 13.1's @ 107-108.

Bone stock auto C6 Vettes have gone as fast as low 12's with the LS2 and high 11's with the LS3.

I'm just telling you guys what the car can do. Most cars in the same make and model are created equal. Drivers......not so much. Maybe your buddy needs the driver mod or race closer to sea level.

Equal drivers and traction, stock for stock.......
2005 C6 LS2 400 HP 4 speed auto would probably be a good race....I think the Vette still might have an edge. 2006 and up used 6 speed auto......superior gearing and lighter weight ...Vette wins. 2008 is LS3.....you have no chance against that car. IMHO, you're going to need 150+ RWHP more to hang with the Vette in a straight line.
