GM owes me cover and shorts; Video of tonneau coming loose

Many of us have experienced the dreaded tonneau cover coming loose from either not having the newest revision or improperly installed retaining bolts for the cover, etc. Here is neither of those situations

Had been noticing some slight movement of the front edge (slight up/down movement) Crapped my shorts when and at how fast this happened. If it would've been the old clip design instead of the "elastic cord" it would've been gone. Thanks GM for letting me get out of my car on a busy interstate to remove this before it completely came off.

This should NOT be happening! Find a fix! And don't tell me to duct tape it like the "fix" for the tops!

It stayed on

I've done 120 mph and the top never came off.

I've been out at the track doing up to 95 multiple laps without issue. I was ding 79 at the time per inboard blackbox/GPS when this happened. I suspect the truck next to me had something to do with it, but still.... It shouldn't pop loose.

Been there, but with the old clips. Lost the whole cover into the median.

Now imagine it hits the car behind you and causes them to crash. Who's at fault?

To me, it seems like a very rushed design, and an even more rushed fix with the bungee cords.

Mine has never even tried to lift up. Not on my 2011, and not on my ZL1 vert with almost 8,000 miles on it.

As long as the front flap is tucked down behind the rear seat and the rear trailing edge is tucked under the rear trim properly and the cord/clip is attached to the posts properly, it shouldn't come off.

Do you have a camera mounted that way permanently? If so, what for?

Trust me. I know exactly how this is supposed to be installed/tucked, and all was good. I'm thinking about trying some velcro on the back edge to help secure it.

The Camera is a "black box" video that records front and back views, Speed, GPS, G-force and audio. Used for accidents or documenting other events. Nice to review and see what goes on at the dealership or when your sister goes joy riding and parks your car at a bar on a rock parking lot (Been there and done that).

I have been north of 140 with it on and no issue. Any chance it was not in all the way somewhere?

I'm guessing that a severe wind buffet caught it when he passed that semi, as the OP suggested.

Here is a link to just ONE of the many models out there. Just google Car camera GPS or blackbox car camera, etc.
