I've run ARH cats since adding the SC but I'm still paranoid about this happening. At least it seems you found the problem before causing major damage. Good catch!

Easily that is not the fault of the cat manufacturer. Blowers are not cat friendly and a rich tune can cause their quick demise.

So I have found out now! Manufacturer should still state this fact, so I wouldn't have wasted my money for 18" of expensive pipe, like so many other people on this forum talking bout it now.

If superchargers ruin cats then what kind of cats come stock with a ZL 1?

I think everyone are talking about High flow aftermarket catts, what I understand the factory use a ceramic catt which handles more heat than these aftermarket high flows which I think use stainless steel or aluminum instead.

Glad to hear you got it figured out, and it wasn't anything serious.

I don't believe that superchargers ruin cats. There are plenty of factory blown cars that run cats no problem. Its tunes that ruin them. My stock ones were good until I had a wiring problem that caused misfires. I'm sure that's what started the process and a few weeks later they fell apart.

Factory supercharged cars come from the factory with a very very lean tune and that's why the cats don't melt. After-market superchargers kill cats because they are tuned much richer. Run off-road connection pipes and swap back when you need to pass State emission inspection.

Very lean? Incorrect... pig rich AFR's on factory blown cars like V and ZL1 in low 10s AFR. GM wouldn't even mess with a blown car and cost of warranty on engine hard parts running on the ragged edge just to spare the cats. The factory cats can take the HP of the 450-500rwp of the aforementioned cars with single digit boost. The higher HP boost applications esp on cheap high flow cats is where the problems arise. Several V's in 10 sec club on factory exhaust.

This is exactly why I will be removing the cats when my Whipple goes on. If my tuner wants to make my tune rich for more safety so be it. I would rather have a rich tune and no cats vs a lean tune and blown motor.
