I have a 2014 1LE, and I've heard that the different hood might cause an issue with some of the Intakes available for 2010-2013 models. Which intake do you guys recommend? Would it void any type of smog regulations in California?

I'm going out on a limb here and assuming that the issues you've heard of with some manufacturers and the new hood are due to some cold air intakes using the hood as the top of their box.

If you search here you will find the leading cold air intake seems to be the one made by cold air inductions (CAI), which actually has a closed top box, so I don't believe the new hood will be a problem.
As for smog regulations in California, that I cannot help you with.

Like Dupree mentioned, the CAI Inc systems are good to go. California regs are too ridiculous and fluid to try and keep track of. I'll leave that to someone local.

Regarding California smog regs, so long as it's CARB approved, you will pass smog (California Air Resource Board). It should come with a CARB sticker which should have a number on it. Prior to purchasing your intake, make sure it's CARB approved if that's an issue. I have an Airaid which is not. However, I kept my stock intake and can swap it out. My car will pass the test, just not the visual. It's silly as it's a similar design to many CARB approved intakes on the market. That being said, if you bought your car new, you should be good for five years before you have to smog it in California. The smog here is crazy. No long tube headers either. Won't pass in Cali.

Our CAI has 0 fitment issues on the 1LE, and it is not CARB/SMOG certified. Feel free to PM me or give me a call if you have any other specific questions.

As a fellow Kalifornian I do not believe there is any cold air intake available that is CARB approved. However they are so easy to swap out with the original intake at smog time I would not let it dissuade you from getting one and installing it. When I get one for my 2014 it will be the CAI model mentioned above.

Is the Roto-Fab an issue?

I just don't like how CAI has what looks to me like Aluminum foil on the inside.

After having done some research, there is no CA-legal CAI at the moment.

I've seen this referenced twice now, and I still can't figure out what y'all are talking about. Mine, as well as the one I put them my friends car both have ceramic coating and their smooth on the inside of the tube.

If you're referring to the inside of the box, that is actual heat shielding, which is why the CAI kit keeps intake temperatures cooler than many competitors, and what keeps it able to have a metal box instead of a plastic box which, in my opinion, looks better.

Thanks, I know what it is. And I just don't care for it. If the CAI blew the Roto-Fab out of the water I would get it and tint the glass so you couldn't see into it. But the gains are about the same and I think Roto-Fab looks better and it has a metal box also.

My question was to Chase if there is an issue with the Roto-Fab and the 2014 Hoods?

We have installed both on the CAI and Rotofab on the 14's and they both work and fit fine.

Has anyone tried the Airaid on the 2014? I like the way they look, reminds me of the intake on the Z.
