synthetic motor oil?
Does anyone know if the new Camaro will come with synthetic motor oil? I have not seen this discussed anywhere.

If they're using mobil 1, should we stick with it?

Ultimately, as long as you stick religiously to high-quality motor oil, it really doesn't matter the brand. Some people swear by one or another. I imagine that keeping one company's enzymes in your engine is better than keeping a whole bunch of different ones for the sake of consistency, but there is not enough conclusive evidence to say that one major brand of oil will give you substantially more miles than another. There are too many variables—driving style, performance modifications, amount of driving per day, type of gasoline used, when the oil is changed, whether the car is a track racer or a daily driver—to test this effectively. I'm sure dozens of brand loyalists will disagree with me and start arguing over which brand is better, but the truth is that there are several good brands out there, and they will all help your car last a very long time.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion, based on what I have seen it do to diesel trucks, AMSoil is shit.

Royal Purple. Most engine builders/hardcore racers swear by it.

Amsoil is a great oil, as is Mobil1, and is Royal Purple. however, I have sent oil samples off for comparison tests after running them in my 94 Z28. RP was top dog M1 was a little behind Amsoil was right there with M1. however, Amsoilis a good oil. I will say that. but I do have my own personal reservations against ever using them again. and dont forget a good filter Wix, Mobil1, K&N are all good oil filters. stay away from Fram tho. Royal Purple

Might I ask what those reservations are? I don't trust AMSoil because I have seen diesels that run too long on the same oil (which leaks like a mofo thanks to their special two filter adapter btw) and they are sludged from crank to valve covers. Plus, any company that thinks they can claim 25,000 miles on one oil change is just plain full of shit.

but the fact that their top oils are not API certified, too many Amsoil fanboys on every site im on trying to endorse their product. and the fact that I even offered to run amsoil in my 94 LT1 with whatever filter the amsoil guy deemed fit. and I would weld my drain bolt to the oil pan if he would pay for a new engine when mine went to shit before 25,000 miles. I change my oil every 3000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. due to the fact that its not just the miles you put on the motor but also the condensation that occurs within the motor that breaks down the oil as well. thats why if you've noticed any of the "hey im thinking about buying this car, its only got 20k on the odo" threads I ask how many times the oil has been changed. there are a couple other things with amsoil that i wont mention
