Any epoxy or hot glue as long as it is none conductive should work fine.

Less chance of something going wrong. Like a pinched wire or a short.
The more wire you have the more chance of it rubbing against something and shorting out. If a power wire shorts out it can be a big problem. With the switch on the ground side if the wire going to the switch gets pinched the worse thing that will happen is the light will stay on.

I was also confused about this. Will the switch still work even if its after the bulb and the 12v source? Thanks for all the help.

Lastly, where exactly is that ground located I am having trouble finding it

Yes! The switch breaks the circuit. This is actually the correct way to wire a circuit. This way the power (hot) wire is protected. If the wire on the switch side breaks, what is the worst that can happen? The light comes on.

The ground is on the right side of the glove box opening, on the metal frame.

This is a great DIY. I just finished doing the install - it was very easy. Thanks for the great instructions and part numbers. instead of a single LED, I used a 6X6 LED array that I got from Autolumination for $15. It lays fairly flat and puts out a lot of light.

It actually is a 40 amp wire controlling your blower for the a/c and the heater.
found out the hard way today

Did mine today. Your instructions were spot on!

I just did this install on my 2011 and I couldn't find an unstriped red wire. Only a smaller red wire with a black stripe.

OK and its just a solid red wire? Is it buried underneath the other cables in the harness? I thought I had looked pretty hard.

Also, when I put my glove box back together I don't think I did it right. Whenever I open it all the way it like jams and I have to jiggle it to get it to close again. I think what is happening is that one of the hooks/pivot points that hold the glove box in place gets jammed and then it wont close. Any advice?
