LSX 427 or LSX 454
Members,
I have sold my 2.9L Whipple Supercharger and am in the process of selling my LS3 Long Block to someone (pic attached). The team at Lethal Racing is preparing to start the second phase of my build after Camaro Fest next week. We will be going with a set-up that produces 1000rwhp (engine, supercharger, fuel system, Meth Injection) at 70-75% of the engine/blower capacity. I am hoping for around 1100-1200 RWHP, so we can tune it down to a conservative 1000rwhp for street use. I know that sounds insane, but my goal has always been to have a 1000rwhp street car! My question to the forum members is which engine would you go with, LSX 427 or LSX 454, and why. Once the build is complete, with the supporting drivetrain components upgraded, we will be tracking the car some, but it will remain my street car/show car toy...thanks and look forward to hearing from you guys!!!

Everyone is going to say 427. Boring it to 454 just makes the cylinder walls thinner and u can make all the power you will ever need with a 427

No bigger than 427 especially since you plan on big boost. Heck, you could stay stock cubes and still easily eclipse 1000-1100 rwhp with a couple nice turbos.
The real question is what blower were you looking at to "easily' make 1200 then back it off to a measly 1000? 4.0 L whipple?

@ BullF-16 - Either a Vortech V-24 XB105 or a Whipple 4.0L for the blower choice

Have lethal do a set of twin 61mm on it. Can dial it in whatever power you want and won't be stressing anything.
I would do 427, and in fact that is what I did. No reason to push the bore limit of a high dollar block. Let the blower/turbos do the work. Are you stuck on LSX block or just using LSX as a term? Are you talking about the specific GMPP LSX 454 or just building a block to 454? I wouldn't touch an LSX 454 for a blower app, and no reason to build a LSX block that big. Other great options are RHS and ERL blocks for a nice 4.125x4" 427 build.

Going with something that fits would be nice. XB110 or Whipple 4.0 is going to be expensive custom and I'm not a fan of big race blowers on street cars.

The guys at Lethal don't really need help from the internet but just for fun-
427 around 10.5:1. And for a simple setup I'd do a pair ballbearing PTE 5862's. They will do 1100+whp very easy and with without all the custom work. If you want to do something really special, compound the turbos into a PD blower. |

Thanks guys, we ordered an ERL Superdeck LSX 427. I still haven't decided on which blower yet, I'm leaning towards the Vortech V24x so I can keep my Z-Force Ram Air hood...If I go with the Whipple 4.5L, I'll have to go to a COPO style hood, which I'm not in favor of...thanks!

How are you going to fit that blower? Cut the shock tower out? Custom bracket?
Super deck block or LSX block? ERL doesn't do LSX blocks so I assume you mean a superdeck 427. Can't really be a superdeck LSX block.

Beat you too it. I'm sure it is an aluminum motor since he said superdeck and ERL.
Why not just run a Ysi if you are shooting for 1000 and have to run a blower. I still say do turbos but if you are stuck on a blower all the custom work just to have a XB110 on seems like a waste to make 1000.
