After reading through an older thread (below), I will probably be going the same route come cam time. Looks like the Comp Trunion upgrade has caused quite a bit of issues for some. Some scary stuff in there.

I'm not too savvy with this sort of thing, but I see others recommending LS7 lifters. Should that be something I look into upgrading as well? Or does my kit include something like that already?

no kits that I know of come with lifters. bring that you have a 2010 you should upgrade to new LS7 lifters.

Remember that you need to lift the heads to replace lifters..that will add to the overall cost..you need new gaskets then. You could use custom gaskets to gain some compression (not too much to avoid valves kissing thr pistons and ruin the engine).

You might just sell your heads and buy GMPP CNC LS3 heads. Cheap as hell. Or TSP porting is cheap. Racing heads? Lol

Ask TSP about their new rockers.

You could slap on a new LT1 timing chain and save some 100$.

Melling oil pump is a go or a GM fixed one.

How much mileage?

I've decided against lifters for the time being. Later on this year I plan on having the heads ported so I'll take of all of that then haha. Thanks for your informed reply! And I'm sitting at 72k miles right now.

You don't have to pull heads for ls3. Just find something to hold the lifters up. I used two car antennas, pull the push rods and then spin the cam. If the antenna slides all the way in to the back of the block. You are Golden.

Also why the iridium plugs? I suggest the cheaper tr55s. I occasionally pull my plugs to check them. I can replace my tr55s for pennies compared to the iridium ones.

Also factor in coolant, gaskets, rtv, maybe spark plug wires. I tore one taking it off. That crank bolt was fun to remove so research that a little.

Taking the RAD and condenser out as an assembly made a big difference, as did removing the front bumper. Don't forget to set a few bucks aside for a tune + $125/hr for dyno time.
