AC blowing warm.
Hey, so recently my ac has stopped blowing cold air and is just very warm. I went to autozone and got a r-134a bottle and when I just put the hose on the low side valve the gauge showed at 55psi and was directly on the line between green and red.
My car is a 2010 SS LS3 with 67k miles. AC belt is still on, checked just incase. Any ideas what I can do or should do? Thanks.

Possibly heater blend door. Do a search on the forum. You won’t be happy.

Ok so I looked it up and yea I don’t like it at all . How would I know if that’s the problem or if it’s something else? Just take it in for a diagnostic?

Think you can crimp the rubber hose going to the heater core or both hoses real quick with some vice grips and see if it starts blowing cold with no coolant going to the core. If so probably the blend door.

I would think that if the blend door is broken the heat temp wouldn’t change no matter what the temp dial position was turned to as the blend door can’t move. Try it and post back your result. Another thing to try is if the windshield fogs up, turn on the defroster with the a/c on and temp set to med-high. If windshield clears it means the a/c is working.
If it doesn’t clear then the a/c isn’t working. |

I'm guessing the blend door. I replaced mine. Think it was $26 on Rockauto.com. There are videos on youtube to cut out the old and install the new one. Takes some time, but way cheaper than having the dealer do it for $2,500-3,000.

Hey thanks for all the info. I’ll try some of these ideas out and get back to this post in a bit 👍

So I’ve watched almost all the videos about cutting out the plastic piece. I see that the heater core is extremely close behind the cut. How do people avoid not hitting it or cutting it? Do you just have to be extremely careful when on that side and barley cut through the plastic at the left side? Just from the vids it seems it’s like a quarter to half an inch behind the cut which scares me lol.
