she is going under the knife (results are in dyno #'s)
LS3
After 1600 miles she is finally going under the knife for: comp cam custom grind (~~22X/23X .57XX/.58X@ 113 LSA) comp 921 dual springs hardened pushrods new era cold air intake long tube KOOKS headers (1-7/8) kooks intermediate pipes (NO CATS) Full ZEX EFI race kit (100 hp shot) w/woods throttle body plate and all safety devices Full dyno tune Had to wait a little while on the KOOKS (they shipped today) Total cost is ~4800.00 buck It made 450 RWHP on all motor with 5 degrees of timing removed for the nitrous. This was about 20 shy of the best all motor dyno run at 29 degrees timing. This is SAE corrected and run on a 95 degree day with no dyno fan and no cool downs in between runs. this was run #8. Dynoed at 558 hp with a safe shot of nitrous through a HSW plate. Took her out on the street and WOW. This thing runs now. Last edited by mark_p; 09-01-2009 at 03:00 PM. Reason: new results |

How much do you expect to be putting on the ground w/o the nitrous? 450-480?

I am estimating about 470 or so.. It is about 365 stock. mild cam should give about (30)+headers and exhaust (40)+ cold air intake (15)+ dyno tune everything (20 extra).. If I can get this I would be happy. I will post a dyno run with and without the nitrous. hoping about 570 with a daily safe (100) shot of nitrous

You ought to add some underdrive pulleys to that list... I was at 465 rwhp before the addition of the CAI...I'm waiting to replace the CAI and I'll get a final dyno run...

yeah i figure your making and extra 15 with your bigger cam but with no CAI and the intake is very restrictive. The throttle bodies on these things already flow a ton of air and I am planning on a FAST intake as soon as it comes out. However I will post up next week with the results.

new era for the cold air intake. I have ran many different cold air's in the past and the over the radiator or any direct ram type always gets me better times in the 1/4 mile. they all may dyno the same but dyno's do not tell the whole story. it's a whole different scenario at speed. All the cold air intake s will dyno close to the same HP. Only the direct cold air ones will the HP increase as your car's velocity increases.

Mark,
Glad you are happy with the car. (Its Jeff BTW). We are supposed to have some of the new FAST 102mm intakes in this week. We plan on doing some dyno testing as soon as they arrive. I will keep you posted on the results. |
