Headers question
I drive my car daily to/from work as well as cruising around on weekends, so I was curious how installing headers would affect the gas mileage? Better? Worse? How much worse?

I have found that there was a change in mileage, but it is more from putting the right foot down to hear how sweet the car sounds! LOL
There should not be much change, especially if you get a tune done. You don't have to, but to get the most from the headers I would recommend it. I had Davenport do my tune.

Also, where do you guys buy your headers from in Canada? My brother-in-law can install them, so I'm just looking for quotes for the parts!

You will experience no loss in mpg after you get used to it and stop staying in the gas all the time. We can also ship them to you and offer unbeatable pricing on Kook's products. Give us a call 480-359-5914

My mileage went down....no fault of the headers.... I think you had remarked about the sound of mine last year when we all went to Waterton, so you know what they sound like. I bought mine from Steve @ Davenport, installed myself with the help of Dragon22. Not hard at all to do, but as I've said to others a car hoist is your best friend here and am glad I have one! I then took my car to Steve and had it tuned. It wasn't throwing any codes, but I wanted the AFM tuned out as well it made the most of the upgrade for performance specs. The car is a different animal since I installed the headers, and am now wanting to do a cam/head upgrade. |

And once you get the headers done, think of getting the CNC ported throttle body. Gives you a much more quick response. The "lag" that is with the OEM one is gone. Definitely a great "bang for the buck" upgrade.

Just installed the throttle body last weekend. Definitely a noticeable difference :-)

Along with the headers and a tune, the car is completely different.

I ordered and had them shipped from the US. I see in mhoskins76's sig that he has American Racing Headers. My 2 cents is to say that all headers are NOT created equal. ARH have built in scavenger spikes with formed merge collectors to increase velocity. IMHO they are extremely well built and the fit is awesome. I have ARH and cats on my LS1 in my TA. There are lots out there that are cheaper, but....

I went with a set of kooks LT's with the magnaflow street series cb with hi flows. Tuned by davenport. Makes it a different animal all together. Pure awesome. I went through Maryland speed.
