The LS9 would be amazing, its the top-dog of all small blocks in the world right now so id love it...but if it saves me damn near $20k for an engine that gets 50 or so less hp then im up for that, lol, i can make up that difference with the lesser engine in under $2000 so why bother, lol

Im still stickin with my baby ^_^
stinger hood packin a 600hp 427, its Yenko gone eviilll hahaha >=}

Thank you, my thoughts exactly. Big blocks were already in SS cars when the original Z28 came out. That 302, Muncie 4 speed stone crusher and 4.10 gears were a great combination. Who needed power steering?

If GM did this they are just shooting themselves in the foot.

And no, a Z28 with an LS9 would not be $56-$59k lol, that's just too funny. It would at least be $75k. Doesn't the LS9 have forged titanium components? or something sweet like that? Yeah, lets put that in a Z28 and sell it for less than $60k! Please, I guess it's fun to dream though.
LOL there is more to the ZR1 than just the LS9. The ZR1 carbon ceramic disc brakes are not cheap, niether are the forged alluminum wheels, Niether are the Carbon fiber roof and fenders, Niether is the alluminum Chasis (That alone is $20k over the regular vette chasis), Neither is the $60,000 a gallon special coating on those carbon fiber bits etc...

edit: The LS9 is not a $40k engine, I think it cost about $6-7k more than the LSA. It is very possible for chevy to sell a Camaro with the LS9 motor for about $60k.

And still do anything else to it? That would be difficult.

Do you have anything to quantify that price on the Corvette's aluminum chassis? Being that the Z06 is only ~$23,000 more than the base Vette...that doesn't leave much room for brakes, the LS7, or profit...so I can't help but question that...

wow, $60k for a Z28. What would it's competitors be then?? Might as well just buy a GT-R. I'm assuming that the Z28 will compete with the GT500, everything being comparable, including price. Most likely means no LS9.

No crap the ZR1 is more than just an engine, thanks captain obvious...nice try though with the whole price comparison thing, you really made alot of sense. The Z28 will be more than just an engine u/g over the SS. Brakes, suspension, drive-train components and whatever else...hence why GM couldn't slap an LS9 with all the other goodies in it and sell it for $60k.

Probably not many people that would want to spend $60k for a Z28 anyway. Not saying there wouldn't be anyone just not many.

yeah I'm not saying it is "best" for an LS9 to be the Z28's motor.... It's just the one I want....

IMO I would love to be able to put a supercharged gt500 to shame with a stock N/A motor like the LS7 in a lighter car, then throw on some LT headers, free-flowing exhaust and CAI (just to start of course) and when I mean lighter I mean at least 3300 to 3400 lbs...not 3800...preferably 3100 lbs but thats probably wishful thinking

There's probably no way to make the Z/28 weigh 3100 or even 3300 lbs. Not and keep it comfortable at all. If it was totally stripped no frills then you'd probably still be looking at 3500 lbs. It's all the safety features that add the weight.
