well crap, now it has beat all these. Now the bitchy whiney people are going to say it should be running 7.28 or it's not worth it. I love poking the bear (or internet idiots)

The Z/28 is certainly a hardcore track monster but honestly, for me, I'd take either the 911 Turbo, GTR, or R8 in my garage. High performance and highline cars you can use everyday with lots of amenities and when needed the power for the strip, track, or spirited cruising on a favorite road. The Z/28 is one dimension but boy does it dominate in that arena.

Yes sir but that wasn't my specific point... it was merely comparing vis-ā-vis on power/handling/features/amenities/fun factor/quality/daily driveability, etc... Then again that's why I'm Stingray bound since it provides the whole package for me at half the cost of a 911 which was always my dream car since a little munchkin. It's a hard decision to swap out 2 cars just to get a base 911.... not worth it IMO.

A smashed Beetle, a PS on wheels or an A4 with a fancy exterior/engine... Give me a Camaro any day over those, even in "hardcore Z/28" form |

And using your analogy... the 5th gen Camaro is still built on a GM Zeta sedan platform even in the hardcore Z format therefore one could stereotype it as hot rodded Holden. Anyway, moving on... I'm not discrediting the Z/28... would love to have one especially since I can afford to attain one.. but IMO the highline cars are still a great all-in-one complete package so I wouldn't bash/discredit them. The Z/28 just beats it on the 'Ring or a track. Then again, for me, doubt I'd ever be with it on a 'Ring or consistently & competitively on a road course. A large majority of us won't be able to replicate those times neither since 99% of us are not professional track drivers or active experienced race car drivers. |
