What looks like an overloaded rod, on a naturally aspirated engine, equals detonation to me. Just my 2 cents. Good luck building it back.

This one shows that it was running rich with no hotspots, i mean looking at the tops of the pistons and such. |

thats why i suggested the top of the cylinder wall failed (you'll see in the pics) lot coolant in..and hydrolocked it. that would probably fully explain everything blowing to pieces then i assume. |

I would have left the whole engine together so the Man could have evaluated it. The GM tech could have torn it apart should he wanted them to.

My guess would be detonation shattered the piston, rod and block look like aftermath not the cause.
Was it professionally dyno tuned after the cam? |

Tampa Tuning did the mailorder portion, It was double checked using a wideband and checked out. All I did was lower the Rev Limitor back down to 6k when I tuned it.

well if GM is reading this let me tell a story of how TOYOTA treated my sister.
she had a camry that had 90k miles and she had let it go 30k miles with no oil changes, well the oil turned to sludge and basically boiled the motor out of antifreeze. at that point the motor shook real bad before it locked up. she had to have it towed to the dealership where they told her a new motor was the only fix and the cost was going to be 11,000 bucks or 8,000 for a used motor with 40k miles on it. well the car sat there for a couple weeks. toyota finally agreed to put a brand new motor in her camry because they determined that the low oil light never alerted her to add more oil........ now that is one hell of a company to take care of a customer that blatently abused the car. I personally tell this story to lots of people and I am sure word of mouth has sold a few camrys because of how they stood behind their product. I realize this guy modded his car a little bit but would it hurt GM to step in and help a customer possibly a life customer with a major engine failure like this......
