Waxing stripes

I have never waxed my car since its a 2011 and its been too cold out. I have the vinyl stripes on the hood and trunk. Are these supposed to be waxed or not?

Waxing the vinyl stripes is a no no. Just clean the stripes with soap and water. Never apply wax on any type of vinyl.

I wax the stripes, too.

Just plan on spending some time with a cloth and your fingernail getting the wax from the edges.

Traditional waxes may slowly degrade the vinyl over time. I've been using Turtle Wax Ice which is a synthetic wax safe for use on vinyl....not necessarily the best wax out there but it's my go-to for the stripes.

I use spray wax on mine all the time. No issues no residue.

Any vinyl graphics website will tell you NO to waxing. The chemicals will break down the vinyl over time.

I use Adam's Super VRT on my black stripes and it makes them pop! You should run a microfiber towel over them to knock it down so that dust/dirt won't stick to it.

I wash my matte blacks strips with normal car wash to clean but after drying I use Turtle wax Ice Synthetic wax which isn't really wax but not sure what exactly it is but have been using it on the strips since last spring and it does a good job of keeping them looking the way they are supposed to and provides a nice barrier for protection. put a fresh layer on every 3 or 4 car washes. a little goes a long way also, the bottle i had last summer is only down about 1/5 of the way. probably last another 2/3 years

I've never waxed my vinyl stripes. Not necessary in my opinion but I do watch for bird crap- Have one spot on my trunk now which will not come off as I didn't get it off fast enough.
