My weekend with the Viper club

A couple friends invited me to the VOA 20th reunion. About 40 cars showed up. Sunday afternoon, about 34 of them drove through some twisties to a winery. I was fortunate enough to drive my friend's cars. We switched off in a 1996 GTS and a 2001 RT/10. I kind of don't like my friends anymore. Because now I want a Viper!!!

Drooling over the ZL1s. It will be my next car if I can manage to pull it off...

I've always liked the Viper because of its purity of purpose. It is supposed to be a badass car, nothing more, nothing less. And it's always met that goal.

Pretty cool. I've never seen that many Vipers together at one time before. My Co-worker has a 2000 ACR Viper and has given me a ride a couple times before. It's a very raw, no BS, all-purpose car. I can't see myself driving one as a daily driver but it would be awesome as a weekend/toy car.

I always liked the Viper, it is like the automotive answer to MMA.

Last week, the company I work for took a Viper on loan from the manufacturer, in order to do some testing of our product compared to some of our competitors' products. Arrived at the track in the morning, the driver (a highly esteemed, professional driver) took the car out for a warm up, and to get a feel for the car.

He did not complete the first lap. Piled it up into the wall. He was not hurt, but the Viper is in intensive care now, and may not survive.
