$Cheap $20 DIY Afterburner / Led Sequential Camaro Tail Lights
I wanted to share my home brew led tails. Made from import led panels and flexible led strips. Not as nice as the other kits I have seen on this site, but hey its 20 bucks! I am not selling anything, just showing what I did to my camaro housings. (on my chevy nova!)

Thanks...
First thanks for the positive responses, I was worried about how you gen 5 guys would respond to your tail lights in a old school car. The thing to also keep in mind is the leds for the afterburner are spaced wider apart than the custom kit. In my opinion it still looks great, however parked next to the more expensive kit would pale in comparison. Another thing to note is the flexible led strips do not come with adhesive backing. This means you need to glue the strips down. I use the black hot melt glue from 3m or emblem adhesive.
I will pos the link and/ or sell the ones have left (I imported a case of them for my home built RV). However, I believe it is against the rules of the forum. If a moderator gives me the ok I will gladly share the links, just don't want to make any waves. |

Modified Camaro Tail Lights
I changed it up a little bit. In the video above the led panels appeared a little orange because of brightness of the led's. I also wanted more of a blood red than the stock lens. So I added a second red filter made from a red round lens cut in half. I also added a piece of copper tape along the bottom to better define the "retina" if you will. So when the tail lights are on the center is a deeper red than the outside of the lens. It's a subdual effect but hey less is more... the lenses above are installed on the passenger side, the original is on the driver side. |
