Oil Change Using RP 0w-40 - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Well I changed my oil the other day an decided to step out a little bit since the motor is now over 50K, I bought 8 qts of Royal Purples 0W-40 with a K&N Filter. So short term I'm impressed 85 degree day running 80-85mph at 2200'ish (3.91s)my oil temp was just a tick above 230-240 and was running 45-50 psi for a prolonged period running down the interstate. Prior to this I was running Royal Purple 5W-30 and at same speed and rpm an outside temp it was 35-40 psi at almost 250 on temp. I set the cruise control to keep it steady, so I hope this is a good thing, I know you have to have some heat in the oil just like anti freeze but what is to cool on oil?? I'm thinking about adding a oil cooler and high pressure/volume pump (nit sure which one)to the car for track days because I saw 260 for oil temp (5w-30)at NCM and Camarocross during C5 Fest this year, I'm not that good but do think I'm getting some what better each time I run there, so I wanna get ahead of the game to keep the temps down.

I've seen 270+ (digital only goes to 270) during track days with RP 5w-30. I will be adding a cooler here soon.
