I signed it. I'm gonna prolly register my car in MO, but while I'm in VA they won't bother me if I don't have the front plate on the car.

I've drivin plenty of cars in MO for the last 15 years, and none of them have ever had a front plate. Never had a problem, and hope I never will.

I think rather than a petition to remove it (which the state has no motivation to do) we need a petition to make a personalized plate that you only have to have on the back of the car. Make it a fee for the privilege. Say $50 a year or something. If there is revenue to be generated, it will get more traction. I'd pay it. And for officers who pass you and see you don't have a front plate, they could have a special logo on the rear plate to easily distinguish it.

That would be neat, but unfortunately most cops in MO don't know state plate laws to begin with, and adding something like this would only cause more problems. My example would is having 18,000 lb plates on a truck. I have been pulled over for running the one issued plate on the front of the truck as instructed from the DMV, while the cop issued a ticket for not having two plates displayed on the vehicle.

I don't understand - Missouri plates always look like someone spent five minutes on the design and called it good. Kansas plates look like works of art in comparison. Anyways, I have no front plate.

i live in MO but all my vehicles except the vette are registered in KS. I have no front plate on my vette and i got a ticket for it, i went to the hearing for it and the judge threw it out and said there is no reason for me to make my car look like shit with the front plate on it.

We here in Nebraska have the same stupid law...required front plate. I have never put one on the front of my 94 Corvette, never had a problem.(knock on wood). If states want to cut costs, require only one rear plate...50% saved right there! BTW, I'm originally from St. Louis....Go Cardinals!

There is a bill in the Missouri house right now call house bill 58. Sponsor is Theodore Hoskins Of Berkley (St. Louis). The bill is to stop issuing front plates in the state of Missouri. He is selling it as a cost cutting move, where as the state would only have to produce half as many plates and save money. If you have personalized plates you would still get 2 plates because you pay extra for personalized plates. I'm assuming you wouldn't have to display the front personalized plate if you didn't want to. Check the Missouri state web site under HB58. At This time the bill is not currently on the calender but it's not dead yet. It would be nice if this passes but I don't run with a front plate on my Sky and so far so good for almost 3 years.

Man, that would be so nice. I've never voted in my life, but I would get out of the house and vote for that one in a second

So not just wanting to watch this bill die....I have sent a letter to Rep. Hoskins, the sponsor, and told him that auto enthusiast support for this could potentially be raised by relying on groups such as ours.....

Let's see what he comes back with.
