Question Revolution Style Hood Question(s)

hello c5,

I just bought the revolution style hood from a member. My car is my daily driver and I was wondering how easy it would be for my car to stop functioning if I drove in some heavy rain? Also, if you have this hood, does yours line up perfectly with the car?

My main concern/queston: Is there an insert I can put in the scoop or anything at all so that I do not have to worry about weather conditions?

Thanks,
niko

Aren't these questions you should ask before buying the hood?

The only person I know that has the hood never drives his car in inclement weather, so I wouldn't even begin to know the answer to your concerns...

Most hoods with scoops and vents have channeling and drip trays to direct water away from vital areas - have you contacted the manufacturer to see if they sell these?

no I figured I would post here first and then contact them.

In general, how hard is it to get water into it? Should i even be worried?

First of all, the engine bay is damn near waterproof without a hood on, there isnt much under there that cant get wet.

Especially if you have the factory engine cover on.

Second, I doubt you will get more than a few drops making it through the hood scoop on that hood. Then that water getting through would have to make it to something electrical to even try to cause a problem.

Id say you are fine, but I havent seen that hood up close, you may want a grille or a tray underneath or something.

Try this, get a hose and stand over your hood and spray it, see how much actually makes it in the engine bay.

For your other question, from what ive seen, the hoods dont fit perfectly out the box, lots of ppl have problems, same with any fiberglass hood, you have to do sanding and filling to get it right.

I dont have the engine cover on it anymore because of the mods I have (the spacers) wont let the cover go back on
