Went to the dealership this afternoon and no one in my area has put their name on the list for the allocation of the ZL1. The salesman stated that we are the first folks in line for the allocation when/if it is released to them. The wife can't wait. She was very excited.

Keep going, it is sounding more like $55k from talking to dealers with their best guestimates.

It has been said many times before, and while a guess, I believe it is the most reasonable guess. Look at the 2011 GT500 w/PP, ~53k. I believe the ZL1 will start in the low 50's and go to approximately 58-60 if they offer recaros, nav etc.

This car is Not going to start at the so quoted $48,000 and some change, like a ton of folks think... You will be lucky if it has a starting MSRP of $52,000, we all know how General Motors thinks.. Don't get me wrong, I have a 2011 1SS and I would love this car but the reality is GM/Chevy dealers are gonna squeeze as much out of it as they will allow...With all this Performance equipment I have been reading about, I cannot believe this car is going to be a sub-$50,000 MSRP starting price, I wish it was, like $42,000(LoL)...

My guess 2012 Camaro ZL1 = MSRP $57,495

You have a point - it's LOADED with technology and performance...but you've got to remember it's slated to compete directly with the GT500 Mustang. An almost $10,000 premium won't make that very possible...

GM is gonna make you believe that all this added Performance Equipment is going to be worth a much higher Premium over the Competing Ford base GT500... Don't be shocked when you go to buy this ZL1 the Price is going to be close to the $55,000-$60,000 range.. And GM is well aware and will take into account that alot of folks really want this car(myself included) and they will make you Pay for this 2012 Camaro ZL1..and pay a High Premium...

I am trying to keep the faith...... Buuuuuut it sure does seem like it is going to have a lot more "Tech" than the GT500, and more "Tech" usually means more money.

I really really really hope my gut is wrong on this one.......

I don't think so. Not that high. Because then they're putting themselves in direct competition with the GS Vette, CTS-V...all while removing themselves from the market who buys GT500s...

Yes - this car is amazing...and we all want it badly...and recognize & value the tech...but Chevy (and Camaro) is still a value brand. I believe it'll be priced as such.

You see - they've essentially taken the CTS-V components and "tweaked" it to serve the performance-oriented Camaro enthusiast. If you do the quick math looking at the difference in cost between an LLT-powered CTS vs CTS-V...and then apply that same math to a 2LT Camaro...price ends up in the range of 47000-54,000 depending on which model CTS you find appropriate and how much extra you think the work going into the ZL1 will be.

My mind has the base price just a hair under 51k.

We'll see, though.

Keep the faith.

Don't scare yourself before THEY tell us how much it will be. I know I'm anxious to know...got to defend against the endless speculation until then!

Don't kid yourself about a starting MSRP of $47,000... and if it does, the dealers will find a way of throwing in multiple options that will drive the price up High and I don't think GM is worried about stepping on Corvette toes and CTS-V toes, they have a strong following in the Camaro fans base and I am sure those that want the Camaro ZL1 will focus on the ZL1.. GM knows they have a very desirable car in the 2012 ZL1 and will take full advantage, do you really think they will charge a MSRP of $47,000 when alot of folks will probably agree to pay over that, if push comes to shove ??

.

I was saying $48,500 before we found out about Mag-Ride.

With all we've learned since then, my official guess is still just under Fifty Large, but they could justify a touch more. I think over 52 would no longer be considered "competitive" with GT 500, so I really believe it will fall somewhere under there.

We have been told a multitude of times that the price will be competitive. I have the faith here as well.
