How to get gas.

I'll start by saying that I am an idiot How do you fill up the tank without having to stand there holding the nozzle?

Eat chili, baked beans and drink beer. You shouldn't need to hold your nozzle then to get gas.

I swear I'm starting a thread one day where I list a thread title and then my instant reaction just to the title.

In this case it was "Eat Brocoli"

But to the question, you mean when it doesn't have the automatic catch like they used to/are supposed to? I wedge the gas cap in there so I don't have my hand soaking up gas fumes and stinking all day after.

if the nozzle doesnt have a lever to hold the handle up then wedge your gas cap in the handle

Guys, I don't think the OP is incompetent.

Don't feel bad, I too had problems...
My '10 SS was really finicky - some nozzles just would not set and I had to hold them. I would try several different positions, but sometimes the nozzle just would not cooperate. It was more the exception than the rule that a nozzle would set so I could gas up hands free.

To be honest you should be standing right there any time you're fueling a car,but there are little catches usually 2-3 positions that will hold the lever in place for you.The first is slow and the others allow for faster flow,I'm sure someone can post a pic for you.

Move to Oregon where they pump your gas for you. It's the law there to promote low paying jobs. I hated it....

Jersey is the same way. How stupid is it that one can't pump their own gas?
