The issue doesn't appear to be a problem with the breather per se, but with an OEM PCV component. The "oil-leaking" breather seems to expose the presence of a blockage elsewhere in the PCV system. I wonder how much oil collects in the trap on the OEM clean-air line when that orifice plugs up. The aesthetic improvement using the breather-cap was worth it to me because I didn't want to use the big retro-looking breather that came with the Vararam dangling off the OEM line. The breather cap is functionally equivalent with the exception of the oil-trap that exists on the OEM line (at least I think that's what the thing in the middle of the OEM line is)

I don't have this issue but wouldn't mind pulling out the Dremel and opening things up. The breather has shown that it does relieve pressure from the engine. But if the PCV system isn't working properly it could lead the breather not to work properly. And this clogging PCV system was the resort to a club members car bottom end to blow open because the pressure had nowhere to go. AND he was stock 100%! Also recall a few months ago ( I think it was Baylor or Smoke1LT) someone before stating that their dip stick was smoking and kept popping out. After switching to the breather problem was solved. That's why a catch can and breather is a good buy for those modding. I just need picture also where this is located to handle it today while I'm off.

Great info Tracey! Can you post a picture or someone post a picture exactly where this is located on a 2011 V6? Would like to drill this out before seeing this with my breather cap. Also how far deep are we drilling?

The breather is there to allow the engine to pull air in, not to relieve pressure...it will allow pressure to vent if it gets too high (mine was leaking oil)...I'll try to get mine drill out this weekend (damn weather sucks)

Not my set-up, but it's at the rear of the passenger-side valve cover: (RED circle)

Is this just a 2010 and 11 LLT v6 problem or does the 2012 LFX V6 have the same issue?

It is all, but usually over time and the V8's dont have much issue unless forced induction or a big NA build. The picture of the LFX shows the location in the rear of the passenger side valve cover. You can easliy remove it by twisting and pulling up with a plyers or vace grip. Then you will see one hole in the top, two in the bottom.
