The Results:2005 S 55 AMG (auto) vs. 2010 SS A6

3 weeks ago my girlfriend bought a 2005 S 55 amg and the trash talking began immediately. So finally tonight we settled the score. First here are the specs:

Supercharged 90* V-8, alum block and heads
Max SAE net horsepower: 469 @ 6100 rpm
Curb Weight: 4100

On paper I was worried, my only mods are SLP axleback exhaust. This thing has a superchrged V8 putting out almost 70 hp more.

At first I drove the S 55 around town myself and get a feel for what im up against. It feels powerful but it doesnt that throw back in seat effect that the Camaro does. It does however feel extremely heavy.

We finally hit the 1/4 mile strip tonight. Since it was a cool night I left the traction control on for all 6 runs.

The first 3 runs The SS way quicker off the line and by the end the Mercedes was 3 lenths behind.

I thought that she wasnt driving it right so I hoped into the S 55 And she took the Camaro. I got the S 55 to pull slightly ahead off the lineand we were neck and neck, but by 60 mph all I hear is my SLP exhaust roar past me. The Camaro took the S 55 amg all 6 runs by a considerable margin.

I really thought the Mercedes would destroy me. On paper the S-55 AMG should have won, but in the real world it didnt work out that way. I just had to share my experience.

The lack of good information like ET's, 60 foot's, trap speeds, DA just to name a few.

I dont believe their drag racing story until I get some better track info as listed above.

Besides that, Great Kill those S 55's look scary on paper but then you have to remember its a big honkin S class their biggest car they build.

So a guy and his girl go to the strip and just because he doesn't bring back slips they didn't go to the track?

If I took my GF to the track for fun I wouldn't keep the slips. In fact, if she lost she'd probably make me trash them.

I didn't say I need to see times slips, just rattle off some ET's and 60ft's off the top of your head like most racers are capable of doing the the following day. The best numbers from my nights are usually burned into my memory bank for future reference especially when I get back most of my friends first questions "So what did you run?".......... ummmmmm I have no idea, my GF made me throw away both mine and her time slips in the garbage and told me to forget ET's we ran, but I am still going start a thread in the VS section on the Camaro5 forums ........... come awn man.
