I like these. Finally a true fastback. If this becomes production I might switch back. Owned 6 Mustangs in the past and just got tired of them milking each design forever with no true fastback like in the 60's. My favorite was my '69 fastback. I bought the Camaro SS because I loved the body and the HP. I am satisfied for now, but I'll be waiting to see what Ford does with the 50th Aniversary design.

Ford and Shelby are in contract with each other which enables FOrd to use the "Shelby" name. The Gt500 is built at a Ford plant the only thing Shelby has to do with the Gt500 is it simply says "Shelby" on it. I don't know the whole scoop, someone please correct me if I am wrong. BUt when the 2014 stangs for the 50th anniversary or w/e come out I don't think FOrd is going to try and renew their contract with Shelby again. The next Shelby gt500 will most likely not not be called a Shelby gt500 it will probably just be called the Cobra again like back in '03 or '04 whenever it was. Ford should bring back and make another Ford GT. Although I still couldn't afford one though :/

Chevy's current engine technology they are using in the Camaro SS is outdated compared to Fords current mustang GT engine. The V6's are If you say differently then you are just a blind fanboi. IMHO they need to come out with new engines for the next generation of Camaros.

GM is actively working on the next generation of V8s. The LLT is ahead of the curve.

Here are some numbers I have found for the 2011 GT500
475RWHP
http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/ind...11-gt500-dyno/
471RWHP (they got 459 from a 2010)

472 RWHP
http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/ind...ck-2011-gt500/

Well looky here...Ill be damned...none other than MM & FF got 500rwhp on the dot. LMAO. And of course they use a dyno jet (show the highest numbers). I bet this is where you guys like to get a lot of your information. Thats cool...

http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...240/index.html

I also think that evo got this result as well. Again...I am not surprised LOL.

From everything I have seen it looks like the car is 470-480 rwhp on average. IMO that doesnt warrant calling it a 500rwhp car. Thats like calling the new camaro a mid 12 second car or a 390rwhp car. Some have done it yes...but I wouldnt expect it. And I surely dont go around saying it on mustang boards...
Now that its been a few months I've see a few more 500whp+ 2011 GT500's like from a dyno day's

The 2011 GT500 is a solid 500whp car as I saw 2 different stock 2011 GT500's make over 520whp at redline on the same dyno on the same day just an hour apart on a hot 90' and 25% humidity that day. I have the video's and sheet's to prove it but would rather not unless someone just doesn't understand how its possible. It has a newly designed aluminum engine with the new PTWA cylinder liner process that the GT-R uses which adds more whp, the loss of the power steering pump adds more whp, the larger diameter (2.75") exhaust tubing and improved exhaust manifolds adds more whp, and the 40% larger heat exchanger also adds more whp It also has a more complex computer that's always learning and utilizing both of its knock sensors which allows Ford to have a more aggressive factory tune even over the 2010 model.

A dyno is a tool. Nothing more. Take those same cars to the track on street tires and see what they run.

2011 GT500 is not God's gift to man. Ford rates it at 10HP more than the 2010. Guess where that diff comes from? Electric power steering. It is not rocket science. The rest of the stuff you listed will help supporting mods down the road but stock for stock, not much compared to the 2010.

No need to keep blowing smoke.

2011 GT500 is not God's gift to man. I never said it was, I thought it just doesn't deserve a "LMAO" when someone calls a 2011 500 whp car Ford rates it at 10HP more than the 2010. Guess where that diff comes from? Electric power steering. It is not rocket science. Well then you should tell the rocket scientists over at Ford that they had it wrong, since they said it came from the improved exhaust flow. The rest of the stuff you listed will help supporting mods down the road but stock for stock, not much compared to the 2010. The 40% larger 2011 heat exchanger sure kept my still stock car consistent when I was repeatedly hot lapping it on a hot summer test n tune day when I was running consistent 117-118mph in the and 12.3's when I got the launch right and didn't have 1-2 grind all on my first time out with the car and first time at the track with a rwd car, especially one with 521whp and a manual trans.

No need to keep blowing smoke.
The pre- 2011 heat exchanger wasn't enough for even stock hp and many testers noticed lower and lower trap speeds as they hot lapped it.

That is why there is a thing called cool down.

Post date, time of day, track and car number or make it simple and post your best timeslip.

2011 Mustang 0-60?

Does the 2011 V-sixer really run 0-60 in 5.1 seconds? I know it's lighter than ours, but geez, that just doesn't sound right

could very well be, it might be geared a little better than ours, I think GM put to low in the camaro to get that mileage rating up there.

You might visit themustangsource.com website and check some of their forms for performance posts on the V6.
