A 2001-2004 Stock Ford Lightning has 380 horse power with over 450 pounds of torque and can do 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and quarter mile in 13.7. a 99-2000 Lightning only has 360 hp and runs 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and 14.2 quarter. If your friend has a 99-00 Lightning then it's a drivers race but if it's a 2001-2004 you are toast.

race him from a dig and if he hooks up you are toast. Most v6 Camaro autos do 0-60 in around 6.1 seconds and quarter in a high 14. 6 Speed Camaros can pull a 5.6 and quarter of 14.3. The Lightning auto can run 13.7 all day as long as it hooks up. A 6-Speed Camaro is going to get beat well over 6 car lenths and an auto Camaro is going to get beat worse.

The only way you are going to stand a chance is if you can take advantage of his automatic transmission and race from a roll because if you are manual you can get the head start while his transmission drops down gear. You'll still lose but you'll do better. However that is Rice racing so do a dig.

I can't believe you didn't just google the Lightning. Educate yourself because 2 tenths of a second is alot when racing. His 2 tenths of a second could be a couple or more car lenths. I'd say if he barely beat you it's because he smoked the tires. It's hard getting a Lightning to hook.

If it did, it was not stock.... Mid 12's would be impossible even at a lower altitiude. The stock pulley record is 12.68. That truck is not "stock" but still is on stock pulleys. With a pulley/tune/filter they will usually be good for mid 12's depending on the tire on the rear. Very hard to launch without wheelspin. Some say there is no such thing as a stock Lightning anymore. A V6 Camaro would not be much of a race for even a mild bolt on L.

1993-95 Lightning's had 240-hp 5.8-liter V-8's, and were good for 0 to 60 in 7.2 seconds and a 15.8 quarter. No contest.

No more Lightning's were made until 1999, and those 99-00's did 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds. Being only 2 tenths diff from a 6 Speed V6, racing one then would clearly be a toss up (2 tenths are easily lost by drivers in such closely matched races).

2001/later Lightning's had larger 90mm mass airflow meters along with a higher-flowing intake manifolds that netted them +20 more hp/+10 more pound-feet trq. Couples with a shorter (3.73:1 vs. 3.55:1) final drive ratio, it ran 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 13.8 sec at 104 mph.

Camaro V6 6 Speeds will need at least an exhaust/intake to keep up with the later gen Lightining's. But seeing how the 2001/up Lightning's cost over $32,000, that gives Camaro V6 owners plenty of $$ to play with without feeling too bad.

Yea I don't know about the little 6, but that thing shot off the line like it was on something. The lighting was broke loose and when it hit second stayed loose, it never caught the 6.

all of this was at an 1/8 mile track in albany

Facts aren't on your side. The v6 Camaro and Mazda 6 are both slower than a Lightning. Any race that doesn't end in this conclusion means a mechanical problem on the Lightning or a driver error.

It was probably a mazdaspeed 6. AWD and a turbo 2.3. If that's the case, it's faster than a v6 camaro in the 1/8th stock for stock. . .
