Yes and no...HIDs only use significantly more power during the inital power up, "striking"...during stiking,depending on the ballast/bulb the amp draw can be pretty significant. After that the draw is only slightly higher than a halogen bulb system. Also of note is single bulb hi-low HIDs use use a motor to focus(move) the bulb to change from high to low...obviously that motor draws some power as well.

6000k....which is what are in those pics. I had initially bought 8000k because that is what is so popular but they were to blue for me and actually not as bright. Once you put them on the car (actually once you order them) they are yours. I ended up having to buy another set of bulbs that cost almost 1/2 of what the whole system cost. I've got a set of 8000k bulbs I'll sell you real cheap.

Here is my DIY install and I have pics of Halogen vs 8000k vs 6000k.
