Is this normal? Help please!
Hi everyone!
I'm new to the forum and new to ordering a camaro. I've run into a problem with my dealership and would appreciate any suggestions on how to handle it. I placed an order with my local dealership on July 5. They said it would be another week before they would have allocation and I knew there was a GM delay, so okay no big deal. I then called on July 12 to add an option and to check on the order. They told me the order was in, everything was great, and it'd be 6-8 weeks. I was out of town and did not ask for the order #. So, I call today (July 26th) and they tell me the order is in the system but thy are still waiting on GM to accept it. What?!?! Everything I've read about ordering leads me to think this is not a good sign. It seems GM usually accepts within 2 days, not 2 weeks. So far, it has not been a pleasant experience. I'm in a fairly small town and thought I'd keep the $$ local, but the dealership doesn't seem to want it . Are they me? Should I ask for my deposit and go elsewhere? Or is this normal and I am being impatient? (It's such a beautiful car!!) Thanks, Amber |

Welcome!!
Did you get an order number? In no then get it ASAP. As for GM accepting the order, from my experience if the dealer has allocation then the order will be accepted in a couple days. I would ask the dealer what their time frame is to get allocation and tell them if your order is not accepted by their given time frame you want a refund and are going to order somewhere else. Unless of course you don't mind waiting. |

if you like the dealership then stay and wait it out. I ordered in may and got a vin in july. Took awhile but i really liked my dealership. Could have gotten it faster somewhere else but chose to stay.

Sounds like the dealership still doesn't have an allocation for your order. If they did you would be at 3000 (order accepted by GM) within 3 or 4 days after the order was placed. When the order is placed in the system, it won't move at all until they have an allocation.

Its all about if your willing to wait or bust their balls and threaten to go else where. My dealer is up the road from my house so i dont really wanna go else where but i always get the run around on when allocation is aviable but my friends work there at techs and drivers so ill know if they get a 2011 in at all.

Since the plant was closed the 5th though the 16th, the only day your order could have been pulled was the 22nd. Give it till Friday and call again and ask them if it got pulled this week. If it didn't ask them when is their next allocation. And get your workbench order number ASAP. |

Bottom line, if they can't give you the order number, they are jacking you around.

i went through the same thing when I tried to order. My local dealer swore up and down they had allocation, but after a month my order hadn't moved yet. They out right lied to me numerous times. I got my deposit back and found one on a lot exactly like i was going to order and bought it. |

Amber Blu no order # could be aproblem
I have bought a 2010 2SS in August of 2009 and didn't ever get an order number. After checking on it for 2 months and no order number I went somewhere else. At the new dealer I received a copy of the order with the number on it and picked up the car in about 6 weeks. I just bought a 2011 2SS from the second dealer again and it got better. I also got a copy of the 2011 order with the order number on it before I left the building, and picked up my car 4 weeks later(July 2). Both cars were bought at invoice, which I also received copies of. Some dealers don't have allocation and will also jack you around as long as you will put up it. Go to an honest dealer regardless of his location.

I'm having the exact same issue. I placed my order on July 4th (got you beat by one day! hah!), and I'm still waiting on GM to accept.
Email from my dealer: "GM has been watching allocation and production of the Camaros pretty closely. I think they don't want them 'sitting' on lots. They want to make sure dealers aren't stock piling them in hopes of large incentives towards the end of the year." So is this BS? Or is GM yanking our collective chains for the past week or two? I'm getting rather frustrated (as I'm sure AmberBlu is) that I've been waiting for nearly 4 weeks now just to find out how long I have to wait! |

Definitely call your dealership. Regardless of whether or not they have allocation, you should have received an order number before you left when placing your order. I was allowed to change options anytime prior to my car going into production (3000).. I stayed at 1100 status for almost 5 months due to various problems last year.

1. Does not have allocation to get an order accepted. 2. Does have it, but isn't using it on your car. |

I'll check your dealer closely, I placed my order 7/1/10, got an ordered number right THAN, and my order just went to 3000 with a TPW of 8/9/10 today. Sound like they don't have an allocation for you.
