lowered camaros
For the people that have extremely low camaro's, how do you drive them and not tottaly wreck the front end from speedbumps, dips, etc.? My IROC is stock height (Possibly a tad lower maybe) but the front chin scrapes even going over a speed bump super slow, so how do you all do it?

the wheelbase on the 5th gen has the wheels/tires pushed out further to the corners. The front doesn't overhang as much as the older gen's.

I've owned three 3rd gens and had the same problem.
Let's face it, the 3rd gen front bumper sticks out approximately 13 feet from the front wheel. It's like riding a sled. |

my 4th gen with the factory ground effects had gotten destroyed over and over because of the height... I want to lower the new camaro but worried ill be in the same situation. no matter how good you drive eventually u will pull in hitting a curb or something. maybe they should of put those sensors in the front (of course turning on by a button when parking and not listening to beeping while you drive)

I don't know that ANYONE is driving around with a Camaro this low.
I have yet to damage it on the street and have driven it to the Indy 500, GM nationals, Detroit, Chicago and more for thousands of miles. I have also driven lowered cars for years and am accustomed to watching for obstacle on the road. A dear mouse would probably take a chunk out of my ACS spoiler. Approach angles are the key. If you see gouges in the pavement at a gas station ramp because the driveway is so steep, you may want to choose another gas station. For the most part you take really steep ramps slow and almost side ways. My wife won't drive the Camaro because it is absurdly low. I drive it every where and any where. It is just a fiberglass spoiler that can always be repaired or replaced. As low as I am, without the spoiler I would still drive the same way. It is really no different that driving a Corvette which gets a special exception from GM for not meeting the corporate wide required approach angle. |

Hey Pete, Nice looking ride. Is it just the angle of the photograph or is your Camber a little off. Just wanted to bring that to your attention. Nice looking Car!!!

We posted up about this a while back, Pfadt rolls as low as you can go! Here in Salt Lake is the best test, due to the steep angles of street=>driveway ingress. Basically you just need to plan ahead on approach angles etc. Yeah, it will scrape the little airdam often, which shows how low you can really go with our coilovers, but nothing that will affect the bumper. Just have to be smart and keep an eye out for anything in the road that will ruin your day. |
