I never said Camaro never won a comparo, you stated that Mustang is always a close second in the camaros so I pointed out that this isn't an accurate statement. However, if you want to 'keep score' when you add Consumer Reports and Road and Track to the mix Ford and Chevy take four a piece, but look at that mix...

Of the four major auto rags....Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Road and Track, and Automobile....Mustang took three out of four and throws Consumer Reports in for good measure. GM takes one of the major names, Motor Trend, and three of the lesser titles from MSN auto, PM, and Edmunds.

Bench racing is pointless... running at a track puts the driver in the equation and with that ANYTHING can happen! Driving your car at the track is completely different than taking off at a stop sign.... especially if you've never been at track, you're nervous, you're running on street tires, you're adrenalin gets the best of you... lights come down... you hit the gas and then proceed to just sit there and spin.... Trust me... I see it all the time...

need to calculate power to weight ratio for accleration.. but that isnt everything because at high speeds higher HP car will have higher top speed if co efficient of drag the same..

Yes.. but unless you are comparing a 2010 RS vs the 2010 SS you are going to have variances... for instance I made far less power than the 2010 SS but I have slightly better aeros, I'm 41xlbs lighter, and I have SRA instead of IRS.. . these variables alone confuse the situation and make benchracing difficult.

yea there are alot of varibles.. but power to weight ratio does make a good starting point..

But most tracks consist of straight and turns, so if all the Camaro has to do is not get passed in a corner and it'll out muscle the Mustang once it hits a straight. And since most tracks start off straight then turn, the Camaro will end up in front going into the first turn. And it hasn't won almost all the comparo's it's about 50/50 and in most of those cases it only edged out the Camaro in cornering and subjective things like "fun to drive."

People think if you bring a Mustang and Camaro to a track that the Mustang would win; and this would be the case if it wasn't nothing but a big long ass curve.

As long as the people doing the comparison understand the complexities I agree. The problem is most people I see making comments seem to be focused on one thing alone. Even then they still don't realize their flaw and continue to compare published ratings instead of realizing that drivetrain effects how much power actually reaches the ground and to be as accurate as possible they should be using RWHP to compute hp to weight ratios when possible.

I think we've strayed from V6 vs V6.
