Hey Junkman I have 1 quick question I also own a 2002 Z24 with swirlies all over the paint. I am planning on ordering the PC sometime this week.

I clayed and rewaxed the car last week with turtlewax so it looks pretty good but didn't remove any paint damage; so I do not need to clay the car. Would you recommened stripping the wax already on the car prior to starting the detailing regimen in your videos?

Thanks,

I had some light swirl marks and a few scratches that I've picked up in the 4 months since I've had the Darthmobile. Using good quality product doesn't matter too much if your paint is kinda messed up and you're not using the proper techniques to put the product on. I've been a Zaino guy since 2004 so, I have the whole Zaino catalog pretty much. I finally got a grit guard so I can start using the 2 bucket system and I also picked up a PC and a couple of the Adam's pad kits (got the regular set of pads and the 4" set). I watched your videos and when I went out to start my day of detailing the Darthmobile I started going through everything I purchased and about had an aneurysm when I realized I got the 6" pads and no 6" counterbalance to the PC. Thankfully, I went to the Adam's forums and found the thread about the PC and the counterbalances they have for it. As long as you don't do anything too crazy it's OK to use the 6" pads with the 5" counterbalance. I then proceeded to strip the car of wax, claybar, wash off the residue, and then start removing swirls and scratches. I'm glad I got the 4" kit because I had to the 4" yellow pad to get some tough scratches out. The 6" orange pad just wasn't doing it. I used the 4" pad with Zaino PC to work the scratches out and then smoothed it all out with just a little bit of Zaino PC on the 6" orange pad with some detail spray. I buffed the PC off and the scratches and swirlies were gone. Did the areas that were affected, there weren't that many. I then put on a coat of Z2pro with the Porter Cable and the 6" black pad. The pad kinda soaks up the Z2pro but if you keep adding a few drops here and there and some detail spray with it, it kinda makes it last longer. I'm about to go buff off the 1st coat with an Adam's towel and will then add a 2nd coat of Z2pro. It'll be dark by the time I'm all done but, I'll hopefully post some pictures tomorrow morning if the sun decides to make an appearance. I just wanted to thank the Junkman for what he's done for car enthusiasts in making those videos. They really helped me out and I appreciate it.

Darth
Thanks man. Question for ya'. Are you and Emma on the good or the bad side of the force?

Yes. And I would also suggest you use anything but that stuff on your paint.

It's a common misconception about the Sith being evil. Being a Sith doesn't necessarily mean you're good or evil. The Sith are just open to using their feelings and passion to wield the force.

Dang man, you actually answered my question! I wasn't expecting that!

Just don't use your powers on my paint. I'd have to beat you with my PC!

I have a confession to make....

Not all microfiber towels are created equal......

I have a few scratches....

Junkman was right I should have listened.... I didn't really do it to make a point, I just kept forgetting to order the good towels from Adams..... and now I have some scratches...

You know, we could have taken this into the confession booth!

Probably a dumb question, but when you are drying a car are you supposed to use the waffleweave towels or just a regular microfiber, or does it really not matter?

The waffle weave are microfiber. They are just a lot better for dealing with liquids. Use the waffle weave for drying and applying detail spray/waterless wash.

After conducting the pooling or sheeting rinse, you simply dry the car from top to bottom as you normally would. However, blow drying would be much better.

I guess. Mine only cost $29.

The entire car. The whole secret to avoiding damage to your paint is to physically touch the paint the least amount of times as possible.
