Las Cruces, NM | Kiwanis Car Show & Camaro Luncheon
15th ANNUAL KIWANIS KARS FOR KIDS CAR SHOW & CAMARO5 LUNCHEON -SATURDAY, JUNE 14th, 2014- -YOUNG PARK-LAS CRUCES, NM - 7AM-10AM SETUP | 10AM-3PM CAR SHOW $25 PRE-REGISTRATION | $30 DAY OFF Hey there folks, as you all know summer is coming around and as hot as the summer can be so are the car shows that come up. Well on Saturday, June 14th the Kiwanis are holding their annual Kiwanis Kars for Kids Car Show that is held every year at Young Park in Las Cruces. It is the 2nd largest car show in the area which usually brings out around 150 cars from all across the area and offers a plethora of awards. Last year 30 trophies were awarded. For some of those have yet to attend a Kiwanis Kars for Kids show may be asking, what makes this event so whoop? Well the Kiwanis puts on this annual event to help the Child Crisis Center of Southern New Mexico, Jard'n de Los Niņos and the Kiwanis Club of Las Cruces Foundation and gets permission from the City of Las Cruces to park all registering vehicles inside of the park on the grass throughout the park and is quite a spectacle to see. This of course makes the presentation of all the rides just that much more spectacular and mainly reduces the heat that sometimes is experienced out in the concrete and asphalt of usual cars shows. Last year non of us were able to attend the show, so I would like to get a BIG group of us together and not just park the cars side by side along the sidewalks, but make a display where the spectators coming to see the cars not only pass by but come inside our little display and can walk around. I have provided a sketch of what we can do if we get between 10-12 Camaros from the group to come out. The plan is if we can get at least 10 5th Gens, the cars will be parked in a arch and in the inside we park some older generation Camaros like the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Gens for those that have 'em. We'll pitch up a canopy for all of us to sit underneath, maybe even a secondary canopy if we get big numbers and just chill in the the shade, hang out and make this a very relaxing afternoon. What we are hoping for as well is to not only showcase the 5th Gens, but also the Camaros of past like Eric's 1968 and Chris' 35th Anniversary Camaro. These will attract a nice little crowd while having all of the 5th Gens surround the oldies but goodies and makes such an amazing display for everyone to see, and hopefully allow us to win the Best Represented Car Club Award. Afterwards once the show is over at 3PM we will have reservations setup at Farley's for Camaros On the Patio where Farley's will save the parking spots for us and reserve the patio for our group to order, eat and drink. So what do you say guys? ITINERARY: [Subject to change] 07:00AM - Meet up (TBA) 07:30AM - Register at Young Park 07:45AM - Setup 10:00AM - Car Show beigns 02:30PM - Awards 03:30pm - Camaros On The Patio (Farley's) FOLKS JOINING: Char1ieone (LC)............ 2010 2SS/RS Black14RS (EP)............. 2014 2LT/RS Viper1cobra (EP)........... 2010 2LT/RS Viper1cobra (EP)........... 1968 Camaro Garfield1969 (EP).......... 2012 2LS Inferno Z (LC)............... 2011 2SS/RS 14DPTcamaro1le (EP).... 2014 1LE Midnight Rat (EP)...........2013 1LE zl1 bee (EP)..................2010 SS - ZL1 convert con10der (Carlsbad).......2010 2SS/RS Steve (EP)...................2013 2SS Farley's has always been very kind and accommodating to us when we have our gatherings at their establishment the past 2 years and no doubt they will open their doors to us and reserve the patio and save the necessary amount of parking spaces we need to ensure that no outside vehicles will park next to us, preventing any type on inconsideracy to occur to our Camaros. We would just need to provide them with the amount of spaces and seats that will need to be held ahead in advance. So even if you can't join us in the car show, you are undoubtedly welcomed to still join us for lunch at Farley's. Last edited by Char1ieone; 05-30-2014 at 10:14 PM. |

We got a new person attending the festivities on June 14th all the way from Carlsbad, NM! So for those of you cats and kittens out in that area, come on out and maybe you all can make a caravan trek weekend out of it.

Shared the info on the CCNM Facebook page. Hopefully some ABQites will trickle down to support the cause.
