Garage Door Programming

Has anyone had any issues with the Garage door controls not working? I finally got around to programming the control- went well- worked the 2nd time (as far as needing to push the learn button on the motor).

Went to work this morning, garage door opened fine. Came home about 12 hours later- door won't open.

WTF???

Some newer model garage doors have code jumping on them and this may have something to do with it.

I have 2 garage doors programmed (1 that required the learn button and 1 that did not), I also have an automatic gate programmed on the 3rd button all 3 have and are still working fine for for over 3 weeks. I do remember when we first got my Wife's Tahoe she had issues with somehow erasing one button when she programmed the others, I am not sure what happened but it did. I just did them all at once and they also have wordked great ever since. That was 2 years ago. Do them all over again and make sure they all work and see if that helps.

I have not had any issues. My garage door required the additional step of pushing the button on the opener itself and then the button in the car ..

Ours does that. So, how do you make Home Link work with that situation?

Mine has a code but for some reason I didn't need it... it just programmed with the normal remote.

ALSO, you need to hold the button down for a bit longer than your normal remote. Not sure why..but keep the button HELD down. See if that helps.

If your garage has rolling code technology, be sure to follow the directions in the manual (your Camaro owners manual will have another set of directions in the Homelink section for rolling code). You will know if you have rolling code if you have a learn button on your opener, usually either on the side or by the lights. You have to press that within 30 seconds of syncing up your opener remote to your Homelink in the car.

Hmmm, garage door opener was installed approx Oct 2003. How new is the technology? I know it has a learn button- never looked for a reset one.

I thought that the learn button is pressed on the garage door motor unit, and you have 30 seconds to press the Camaro's button (For atleast 2 seconds- and the garage door moves?)

Yes, I'm sorry, I meant learn button.... then you have it and it sounds like you did it the right way.

You may need to hold the Homelink buttons a few seconds, but older garage doors should work no problem. In fact, the older the easier to match the code, as it's not even a code, its a set frequency that anyone with an RF reader can find and match.

I programmed mine for the community gate entrance. It is set correct because it worked the first three times. Since then it works, maybe 20% of the time. I find it funny that it is the only thing that doesn't work because I joked the first week I had the car how the dome light and remote buttons seem to be the only parts in the Camaro that came from the GM spare parts bin. I plan on having the dealer replace it once I go in for my first service.
