My only tip is to make sure you get plenty of plasti dip at the very outer edge of the rim lip and as far behind it as you can. Don't worry about getting a bunch on the tire, it will come off very easily by itself.

I didn't do behind my lip very well and it shows in some spots.

Do it right and get your wheels powder coated instead.

Yeah, spend a few hundred dollars to powder coat and if you don't like it spend another few hundred dollars to change it back OR spend $30.

I got my plastidip from Menards.

Be sure to clean the rims inside and out, followed by rubbing alcohol. Give 30-45 mins between coats and it's better to take off the tape or note cards when your done and not wait till it dries.

They were $6 a bottle at Home Depot ended up spending 24.50 on four cans. They told me I might only need 3 and that i could return the unused one.So its not a bad mod for under 20 bucks!

I agree with sux2bu! If im going to spend $200+ on powder coating and run the risk of not liking the finished product and wasting even more to fix it I might as well do it right as you say and buy some black rims all together dont you think

I am plasti diping just to see how my car would look with black rims and if i like it i will leave it for a wile until a buy some new rims

Clean the wheels good and let them dry. Then spray plasti dip. Pretty easy. I sprayed my old car's wheels with satin black spray paint. Never used plasti dip but I have three cans ready for the weekend.

There is a thing called photoshop or you can just search black rims on here. Pretty sure there is a pic of your color car with black rims on camaro5.

Or maybe i just dont get it

Good luck with your project

There is an enormous difference between looking at a picture and seeing something right in front of you. Imagine not wanting to go see the Grand Canyon because you can just google a picture of it.

I wasnt sure how black wheels would look on my car, and after reading about this mod, i figured why the hell not. if i dont like it, i can take it right off. Well needless to say i love the way it looks. I drive my car daily, and its been 2 weeks since i sprayed the wheels and its holding up great! I will rock this as long as i can. It gives you that flat black painted look and it only cost $30 and a couple of hours worth of work. Maybe down the road i will get them painted, but for now, since i am on a budget, i am happy with the results
