Anyone ever go to the V6 from the V8?
After seeing all the V6 to V8 threads every week and reading this thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157982. It got me thinking. Has anyone ever had a fifth gen V8 and then went to a fifth gen V6 and why?

nice question my guess biggest reason why is gas prices i know i know "when you own a camaro who cares about gas prices blah blah blah" but still it does make a hole in your pocket

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I'm sure driving a V8 conservatively would be very close if not better than driving a V6 with no regard to getting good MPG. It's all in the way you drive.

SS kills me on insurance, I'm 20 and the V6 is more than enough car for me for now. Unless something financial happened, I can't see going from an SS to a V6.

I don't see anyone really stepping down to a V6, especially if they have put any mods into theirs. If you can't afford the Camaro, then you can't afford the gas. You didn't buy this car for fuel economy did you?

it would have to be like a loss of a job or someone didn't buy reasonable within there means. it would have to be gas, insurance, and the main reason. car payments. it would be hard for me to believe that somebody could afford a car, insurance, but not afford gas. when people here are getting OK MPG. nobody should be buying a new car if they are in that much of a tight budget.

I could have bought the V8 and we test drove both, I just liked the V6 better overall.

I bought the v6 originally because the SS insurance killed me. Seeing as I am 18. But I got an opportunity and now I traded it in and bought myself an SS. (Regardless of the insurance )
(I know thats opposite of the question asked in this thread. So Ill now throw my .02 in. Reasons would be insurance and gas mileage.) |

Yeah I have heard of one that did. Gas wouldnt be a concern if getting the V8 anyway. But to give an idea of the potential difference in the worst type driving such as I do, I get 16 and the V8's I know and have seen here more like 10-12. This is 4-8 miles one way, L.A. city traffic going nowhere, aver speed 18.. Highway though at 65(if I could really maintain that) best seen is 32, usually 27 in normal condtions

I remember seeing a thread awhile back where a user went from a 2010 SS to a 2011 2LT/RS. Can't remember his reasoning but most of it was for a cheaper payment.
