Mustang gives some love to RJT Camaro
So I was cruising home on a multi-lane urban Hwy in Nashville with my windows down & radio cranked up. I see in my rear view mirror a older white Mustang gaining ground to catch up with me. Once he is behind me I can see the driver & passenger checking out my car. After a couple of minutes, they pull up beside me on the driver's side. The passenger starts trying to talk to me so I turned down the radio. They want to know what the name of the color of my car is. I told them Red Jewel Tintcoat noting they were not going to make the color anymore. Now there is proof positive that even dirty, RJT in the sun shines through beautifully!

I had a 95 Mustang GT (with Cobra symbols on the side and without the matching hood and rear bumper to match) come up on me and want to race. Haha, when will they learn. Of course, this guy didn't so much as want to look over at me. Just kept mashing the throttle and showing off his exhaust. Man I really need to get some MRTs, I could have made him like more of a fool.
EDIT: I figured it to be a GT because although he had the Cobra symbols on the side, he didn't have the hood or rear bumper cover to match.

Yes I do. That doesn't remove that fact that it makes our V6 sound way better. How do you figure that I wouldn't stand a chance against a 95 GT. I realize he still has the 5.0 but back then they were not that impressive. I know from personal experience they aren't that fast. At any rate, I wasn't going to race him. I just thought he was acting like fool just because he was swerving back and forth between lanes slowing down and speeding up around me. He was a younger guy as well.

I stand corrected, after doing some research I found that the 95 Cobra had the badges on the side with the Cobra rims but it didn't have the Cobra hood that were on the 96-98 Cobras. However, it still only says that the max HP those had was 300 and I don't think this one had the 5.8L in it. So therefore, it only had 240HP.

In my original post, I was getting at the fact that he was wanting to street race down a 35 mph 4 lane road that goes by an elementary school. He was acting like a fool. I also wanted to get his attention to see if it was indeed a Cobra, give him a thumbs up if it was, and not to race. I know where I stand in the food chain when it comes to my V6 Camaro. If I want to own people I can bring out my 76. Unless this is/was dad's car, I don't think he had any mods except for the exhaust. However I couldn't be sure cause I could never get him to look over long enough to get him to stop and chat for a bit. You don't need to school me on what makes a car accelerate, I am quite aware of how a vehicle works.

1995 Mustang Cobra5.9 sec14.5 sec @ 98.0 mph Those cars were a little faster than the internet times, but the GTs got EMBARASSED by the LT1s in those days... and the Cobras were just about an even match. Not saying his LLT is faster, but get your facts straight if you're going to clown on someone. Cobras weren't running mid-13s in those days... unless you think the 90s cobras were faster than the '00-'02 'new edge' cars?

Yes, agreed. I should have specified that to begin with.
No, I'm pretty sure there is NO way possible to make a V8 sound foolish. If I had the exhaust I would have revved my engine and smiled thinking to myself, "hey look I can do that too."

Thanks, lol. I was 19 at the time (9 years ago now...). Stock auto, 3.23s, and 149k on the clock at the time She's in the garage right now, pretty mangled after a 16 year-old kid hit her and I used the $ to pay off my student loans. Slow process of restoration.
Don't get me started on 5.0s... they were faster than the newer ones (I think you call 'em SN95s? not sure) every day, and they used to embarrass me at the track :( I dunno... I'm not saying the Cobra can't run that time, I'm just saying it's not the norm. The guy must drive like Ranger Anyway, didn't mean to thread-jack, OP... but this started out as Camaro/Mustang love, and that's where it's headed back to... so I guess it kinda counts?

I had an 86 IROC that I loved to death. I rebuilt and upgraded the motor and kept chunking the "World Class" T5 it had. I ended up getting selling the car and still regret it even though I two more Camaros now. Maybe someday I can have a 3rd gen again. I had a buddy at the time, that bought a 87 Mustang GT. That car would haul, I never understood why Ford dropped the tried and true 5.0.
