Without the hood extractor I would be more inclined to go z28 pan. With hood extractor deff. go zl1

The engineer I spoke with recommended the ZL1 belly pan for the best aerodynamics. If you're not going to track the car it's a meaningless conversation. This is the kind of stuff that becomes meaningful above the legal speed limit. The engineer stated the opening in the bottom of the Z/28 pan was for "oil drips". He never discussed the openings as providing any kind of better cooling. The more flat surface area you have under the front of the car from the splitter back to the firewall, the more downforce that will be developed. The engineer I spoke with felt any changes from the firewall back would not be worth the cost.

Classic Industries has a solid aluminum belly pan available...

http://www.classicindustries.com/pro...s/uc50002.html

I would think they would hold more heat in, up around the engine, instead of letting air flow around/underneath though.. seems like it could make temps actually go up...

The aluminum one probably weighs more too, for those who are concerned with every ounce

I agree, and I guess they designed it to work with factory mounts, but if you're going to make a custom belly pan, why not make it a bit bigger than that? You want to seal off as much in front of the firewall as you can.

I've added the Z/28 belly pan. Great fit. Easy install. Direct bolt on even on a 2010MY. Love it.

Congrats on the install!

Was it a slide it on, tighten, then done affair AKA "bolt-on"?

Or did you have to drill, cut, trim or any kind of improvising no matter how big or small?

I had to trim my front splitter's plastic (or whatever it was) at the back in order to fit the pan flush.

Hmmmm, and one would think that on a (your) '14+ model, no trimming at all would be needed since the Z28 is based on the facelift '14+ design to begin with, but yet on Mikamaro's 2010, it was bolt-on?!

He probably didn't have a splitter like my 1LE has ; )

I did not have to do anything like that. The fit was perfect. I don't have the 1LE front splitter although.
